WELCOME -- The Welcome City Council met on Tuesday evening. Troy Nemmers from Bolton and Menk gave a final review for the 2025 Street Project. Discussion was held about the pictured street project results at several residences that may be considered for the two-year warranty and lower assessment. The council discussed the various pictures and approved keeping the assessments as they are with no lower assessments.
The council approved the proposal of the Union Care Plan insurance for city employees, except police. The city employees surveyed approved the plan since it has more coverage and less deductible. It would cover an employee 100 percent, the spouse at 80 percent and children at 50 percent if the employee signed up.
Public Works employee Dave Bach spoke about the main water issue and what it took to fix it. He mentioned that the air compressor had stopped working although repairs were tried. A new air compressor and tank would cost about $4,500 from Arnold Motors. He mentioned that he took his privately owned air compressor to the Welcome Fire Hall because the fire trucks must have an air compressor working. The council approved purchasing the air compressor he mentioned as soon as possible.
