WELCOME -- A Martin County West football game will be at 7 p.m. today, Friday, Oct. 9, in Trimont. All military will be honored, and veterans will be admitted free. The Youth Group from St. John Lutheran Church will have a tailgate food event with pork patties and hotdogs. Good luck, Mavericks.
Welcome Clean Up Day will be from 8 a.m. until the truck on Campbell Street is full on Saturday, Oct. 10. This is for Welcome residents only. This may be a good opportunity to get rid of items that may be an ordinance violation for free.
The Welcome Burn Site will be open for Welcome residents from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Oct. 10. Please only bring grass clippings, tree trimmings and wood that are six inches in diameter or smaller.
Cribbage Tournaments will begin with registration at 1:15 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 10, at the Welcome Legion. Registration is paid back as prizes. They plan to have tournaments on the second and third Saturdays from October to March. Enjoy an afternoon of fun.
The Welcome Legion will meet at 7 p.m. on Oct. 12.
There will be a children’s Pumpkin Carving event at 1 p.m. on Oct. 24, at the Welcome Legion. To ensure that there are enough pumpkins, please RSVP to (507) 236-0965. Pumpkins and some carving kits will be available.
The Square Dance Club, Lake Promenaders, will meet at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 11, at 804 West 1st Street in Welcome. Watchers and dancers are welcome. Call Cheryl if you plan to attend at (507) 236-0255. Cheryl says if you can walk you can square dance.
American Red Cross blood drives will be on Oct. 12 at St. Paul’s Community Church in Welcome and at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Trimont, on Oct. 19 at Martin Luther High School in Northrop and on Oct. 23 at the American Legion in Fairmont. Blood is urgently needed, so give if you are able.
There has been a question of who to contact to help with the Welcome Summer Festival in 2027. Please contact Jim Miller at the Welcome Legion. Many hands make lighter work.
The volleyball team had a Cancer Night fundraiser and earned $15,000 to help those affected by Cancer in the area. FLASC (Foxlake Area Sports Complex ) will help distribute any funds needed by area cancer patients. See the form on Facebook to apply for help.
The Sherburn Theatre will show movies again since they have a new server installed. "Nine to Five" will be shown at 7 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and at 4 p.m. on Sundays.
The Sherburn Community Hall/Theatre will be the site for a political forum featuring the school board, county sheriff, mayor and city council candidates at 7 p.m. on Oct. 27. This is sponsored by the Civic and Commerce Club of Sherburn. Be an informed voter on Nov. 3.
MEA is on Oct. 15 and Oct. 16, so there will be no school at MCW Schools.
The Harvest Festival will be on Oct. 18 at Heritage Acres in Fairmont.
Turkey Bingo fundraiser will be on Nov. 6, for the Sherburn Fire Department.
A CREST Lunch and Learn will be on Oct. 21 at First Lutheran Church in Trimont.
The Sherburn Lions Club will host a pancake fundraiser to support the Healing Hearts Recovery House on Nov. 8. The Sherburn Lions Club will collect food for the food shelf on Oct. 26. Plan to attend these upcoming events in the area.
