CEYLON -- Area churches will have services on Sunday. At St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wilbert, the service will be at 9:30 a.m. with communion. Their partner church, St. John in Sherburn, will have 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. services. The Ladies Group at Wilbert will have a meeting on Thursday, Oct. 8 at 1:30 p.m. All members are urged to attend. Sunday will also be a meeting of the ladies group LWML at St. Paul in Truman at 1:15 p.m., with desserts following the mission gathering. The speaker will be Martin Luther High School principal, David Stuckwisch. Wilbert will also have a Bible Basics Bible Study group meeting on the first and third Thursdays with Pastor Hagen and a Bible Study Group in Ceylon on Tuesdays at 9:30 a.m. They will meet with Pastor Reimers at the Pat Walter home on Tuesday. There will be no Ceylon Bible Study on Oct. 20. The Circle of Faith Parishes will have services during October at 9 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Trimont and at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity church in Welcome. There will be no ladies group meeting of WELCA for October which is usually at St. Peter Church in Ceylon. St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Sherburn will begin their fall schedule on Sunday, Oct. 4, with services on Sunday at 10:30 a.m. The Regional Worship Center in Sherburn will have 10 a.m. services on Sunday. St. Paul Community Church in Welcome will have 9:30 services on Sunday.
Coffee Hours are from 8:30 to 10 a.m. on Tuesdays in October at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Sherburn. Join friends and neighbors for good coffee, treats and fellowship. Coffee Lovers meet from 8:30 to 10 a.m. each Thursday at the back room of the Lake Belt Bar and Grill in Ceylon. All are welcome to join.
The Friendship Club from St. John’s invites all to join them for lunch and fellowship at 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 5, at Pizza Ranch in Fairmont. Membership in the club or at St. John’s is not required.
CREST Lunch and Learn program for Martin County seniors will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 7, at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Sherburn. Please call (507) 235-3833 prior to the program date for a lunch count. CREST appreciates a free-will donation.
The Helping Hands of Ceylon will organize a Trunk and Treat event from 2 to 4 p.m. on Oct. 24, on Main Street in Ceylon. Join them and pass out candy. They will also serve tacos in a bag, drinks and cookies. Contact them at (507) 236-7850 and join them for a fun Halloween event for area children.
Helping Hands of Ceylon also organizes the Heaven’s Table Food Shelf food box distribution in Ceylon. Call (507) 236-7850 by Oct. 8 to check out the income guidelines and sign up for delivery, which will be from 10 a.m. to noon on Oct. 20. Sign-up is required each month.
American Red Cross blood drives will be on Oct. 7 at Truman Public School, on Oct. 12 at St. Paul’s Community Church in Welcome and at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Trimont, on Oct. 19 at Martin Luther High School in Northrop and on Oct. 23 at the American Legion in Fairmont. Blood is urgently needed, so give if you are able.
Cribbage tournaments will begin with registration at 1:15 p.m. on Saturdays, Oct. 10 and Oct. 17 at the Welcome Legion Hall. Registration dues are all paid back in prizes. All area cribbage players are welcome to join the afternoon of fun. The tournaments will be on the second and third Saturdays from October to March. The CREST Grief Support Group will begin in the area. The group can walk a person through the grief journey, whether the grief is recent or from a while ago. The group plans to meet from 6 to 7 p.m. on the last Tuesday of the month, at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Trimont. There is no cost and no registration.
