The Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman/Martin Luther Jaguar football game vs Hills Beaver Creek at Hills tomorrow at 7 pm. Saturday the Jr and Varsity VB Jaguars will play at the Nicollet tournament at 9 am. Volleyball on Monday at Truman High School.

Holy Hotdish Fundraiser for organ repairs will be from 11 a.m.to 1 p.m. on Sunday, Oct 4 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Truman. Assorted hot dishes, bread, dessert and beverages will be served for a free-will donation. Take-outs will be available along with delivery within a 10-mile radius of Truman. Fire won't wait so plan your escape during fire prevention week, Oct 4 to Oct. 10. Everyone needs to be prepared in advance, so that they know what to do when the smoke alarm sounds. Have a plan for everyone in the home.

National 4-H week "Beyond Ready" is from Oct. 4 to Oct. 10. Wear green on Monday, Oct. 5 to show 4-H spirit. Thankful Thursday is on Oct. 8 is to recognize mentors, volunteers, and experiences. A 4-H study of positive youth development indicates that youth in 4-H are three times more likely to contribute to their communities than those not participating in 4-H. Notably structured learning, encouragement, and adult mentoring that 4-H'ers receive play a vital role in helping them actively contribute to their communities.

The Blue Earth Zone Fall gathering will be co-hosted by St. Paul's Truman and St. John's South Branch at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday Oct. 4 in Truman. Martin Luther High School Principal David Stuckwisch will speak about the theme: "Let the Children Hear."

Truman City Council will meet Monday, Oct. 5, at the Municipal Building. The public is welcome to attend council meetings

If you are interested in supporting the local community, attend Truman Active Living meetings at 10 a.m. on the second Tuesday of the month at the Truman Historical Museum.

CREST will host bingo for senior citizens at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, October 6 at Booz Baptist Apartments in Truman. Call Yvonne at (507) 776-8555 to reserve a spot. Bingo will continue the first Tuesday of every month.

Mini crockpot cooking classes for senior citizens will be at 2 p.m. on Oct. 13 at the Booz Baptist Apartments in Truman. Call Yvonne at (507) 776-8555 to RSVP. The event will cover learning health and safety for seniors, economical cooking for one or two, taste testing, sharing recipes and introducing other safe, inexpensive mini kitchen appliances.

The Lutz Cancer Center in Fairmont will offer a cancer support group at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday Oct. 6 at Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Fairmont. This is a monthly support group for patients from any community who have received a cancer diagnosis at any point in their lives. The speaker of the month will be dietician Corrinna Lenort, RDN, LD. Attendees may share experiences and learn about coping with the challenges of cancer. Caregivers are welcome to attend.

Recycling day is Wednesday. Place recycling containers on the curb by 7 am.

Truman Pride will meet at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 7. Pride in the school, pride in the students and pride in our future. They work together to promote, support and accomplish fun things and resources for the students, staff and school. All are welcome, it is ok to bring your kids. Be a part of something positive.

Nov. 3 at Granada/Huntley/East Chain High School in Granada from 1 to 6 p.m.

Nov. 17 at the Community Center in Winnebago from noon to 6 p.m.
