Truman city-wide cleanup on Saturday

TRUMAN -- Granada-Huntley-East Chain School has been celebrating homecoming. Tomorrow is Spirit Dress Up Day. Show your Jaguar Pride. GHEC School has decided to move all Homecoming activities to Thursday, Sept. 17. This includes the Homecoming Parade, Pep Fest and football game.

The absentee voting period for the 2026 general election begins Friday, Sept. 18, 2026. Voters residing in Martin County may cast absentee ballots in person at the Martin County Courthouse from September 18, 2026 through November 2. Additional information is available by contacting the Martin County Auditor Treasures office, 201 Lake Ave, Fairmont, MN 56031, phone 507-238-3211.

The city-wide cleanup for Truman residents will be from 9 am to noon on Saturday, Sept. 19, at the Prairieland Solid Waste Facility in Truman. Items accepted at no cost include couches, chairs, patio furniture, bed frames, mattress, box spring, dressers, cabinets, bikes, scrap iron, swing/slides. There will be a fee for electronics, appliances, or any items that have a plug-in or have the cord removed. No tires or car batteries.

The Truman City Council will meet at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 21 at City Hall. All meetings are open to the public.

The Truman School Board will meet at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 21 in the Board Conference Room.

Next week is Homecoming week for Truman Public School. Monday is "Merica Monday" (coronation that night), Tuesday is Jersey Day, Wednesday is Pink vs Camo Day, Thursday is Class Color Day and Friday is Spirit Day (dance that night).

Tuesday is the beginning of Autumn.
