The Civic and Commerce Club in Sherburn is offering the public a sale on the new park benches slated for the city. The club plans to replace the older, deteriorating wooden benches with steel benches powder-coated and painted to match the blue color used in the city equipment. An individual, business, family, or group may want to sponsor a bench for the City Parks at half price. A large portion of the $1,200 cost per bench is covered by Bank Midwest in Sherburn, the Martin County Area Foundation grants and the C&C club.
Families may want to make a memorial with names and dates or a community tribute for $600 per bench. The manufacturer is Hansen Manufacturing in Ormsby, operated by an MCW
Graduate Justin Hansen. Fundraising and ordering benches are planned for the next months. Order forms are available at Bank Midwest in Sherburn. Anyone interested in sponsoring a bench or learning about options can contact Ean Sinn at (507) 639-5711 or info@sinnfuneralhome.com. Benches will be placed in the Sherburn Parks as sponsorships are ordered. Memorial benches will have first priority.
The MCW Schools are underway and remind motorists to watch for children, especially around the schools and streets near the schools. The athletes at MCW have games and events planned.
