BLUE EARTH-- At the Blue Earth City Council meeting on Tuesday the council discussed a series of unbudgeted repairs that needed to be completed yet this year.
City Administrator Dawn Collins presented the council with a list of unbudgeted repairs that required attention, and requested direction on which should be completed.
First, for the Blue Earth Municipal Swimming Pool, Collins noted there were repairs to a fractured TEE pipe and waterline tile replacement quoted at $11,130 by American Leak Detection, along with additional repairs that did not yet have an estimated cost.
Second, a hydraulic leak repair on the Fire Department's ladder truck was quoted at $16,205 by Fire Safety USA. The final item on the list was roof repairs for multiple city facilities, which had a quote from Kato Roofing which totaled $38,775.
Council Member Ann Hanna noted that she would prefer to have a complete estimate before beginning any repairs on the pool, but felt okay approving the repairs on the ladder truck and the city roofs.
Hearing no further discussion, a motion was made and seconded to approve the roof repairs in the amount of $38,775. The motion passed unanimously.
A second motion was then made to approve the hydraulic leak repairs for the ladder truck in the amount of $16,205. This motion also passed unanimously.
Other business discussed at the meeting included:
-- Collins presented the council with the sealed bids received for the empty lot located at 717 East Third Street. Following discussion, the council moved to accept the sole bid of $100 from Allan Hanson. The motion passed unanimously.
-- Resolution 26-36 adopting a special assessment for unpaid emergency service fees totaling $1,000 for the owner of parcel No.25.032.0750 was passed unanimously.
-- Resolution 26-37 declaring two billiards tables from the Senior Center as excess property, with the option to either sell or donate them, was passed unanimously.
-- The first reading of Ordinance 26-08 regulating the height of signs in the highway business light industrial (HLBI) zoning districts was held. Following this, a motion was made and seconded to set the public hearing date for this ordinance for Monday, Sept. 21. The motion passed unanimously.
