Food box sign-up deadline Sept. 10

EYLON -- Area churches are starting their fall schedules soon. St. Paul Lutheran in Wilbert will have Sunday services at 9:30 a.m. beginning this Sunday, Sept. 6. They will not have a service on Sept. 27 but will be joining their partner church St. John Lutheran in Sherburn for services and a call meeting that will be between their 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. services. St. Paul’s ladies group LWML will meet Sept. 10 at 1:30 p.m. The St. John’s LWML will meet Sept. 9 at 2 p.m. The Circle of Faith parishes will meet at Waverly Lutheran Church north of Welcome at 9 a.m. and at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Ceylon at 10:30 on Sundays in September. On Sept. 13 St. Peter will have a combined service at 9 a.m. and then some members will go to the Heaven’s Table Food Shelf and help. Sunday School will be beginning later in September at area churches.

The Bible Study in Ceylon will continue at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesdays. Watch for information.

A LWML mini-retreat will be on Saturday, Sept. 12, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Fraser Township for lunch (11:30 a.m.) and a presentation from Healing Hearts Recovery House from Sherburn. All area women are invited.

Coffee Hours will be from 8:30 to 10 a.m. each Tuesday in September, at St. Paul Community Church in Welcome. Coffee Lovers will meet from 8:30 to 10 a.m. every Thursday, at the Lake Belt Bar and Grill’s banquet room. Join friends and neighbors for good coffee, treats and fellowship.

St. John’s in Sherburn Friendship Club will meet for lunch at noon on Monday, Sept. 14, at The Ranch restaurant in Fairmont. All are welcome to join. Membership in the club or at St. John’s is not required.

The Helping Hands of Ceylon will arrange the monthly distribution of the Heaven’s Table Food Shelf food boxes in Ceylon. Please call (507) 236-7850 by Thursday, Sept. 10 to sign up and get explanations of the guidelines. The boxes can be picked up on Sept. 15.

CREST Lunch and Learn program will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 16 at the First Lutheran Church in Trimont. RSVP by calling (507) 235-3833 to help with a lunch count. These programs are free to senior citizens in Martin County. CREST appreciates a free-will donation.

American Red Cross blood drives will be held on Sept. 21 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont, on Oct. 7 in Truman, on Oct. 12 at St. Paul’s Community Church in Welcome and at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Trimont and on Oct. 23 at the American Legion in Fairmont. The Cribbage Tournaments will begin for the season with registration at 1:15 p.m. and play at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 10 and Saturday, Oct. 17, at the Welcome Legion Hall. All cribbage players are welcome to join. The tournaments are usually held on the second and third Saturdays of each month from October to March.
