Sherburn City Council will meet on Tuesday, Sept. 8. Martin County West Schools will not be in session. Many businesses and stores will be closed. There will be no mail. Enjoy the day with family and friends, and be safe.
Coffee Hours are from 8:30 to 10 a.m. each Tuesday in September, at St. Paul Community Church in Welcome. Join friends and neighbors for fellowship.
The Welcome Burn Site will be open for Welcome residents only from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Sept. 12. Bring only wood, brush, grass clippings and tree trimmings that are six inches in diameter or smaller.
St. Paul’s Community Church will begin Sunday School sessions at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 13. The church service begins at 9:30 a.m. Area residents are welcome to join them.
St. John Lutheran Church in Sherburn will have a service at Everett Park at 10 a.m. followed by a brunch on Sunday, Sept. 13. Bring a lawn chair and a friend. There will also be a service at the church at 8 a.m. that day. The Friendship Club from St. John’s will meet at noon on Monday, Sept. 14 at The Ranch Restaurant in Fairmont. Area residents are welcome to join them for lunch. Membership at St. John or with the club are not required.
Lake Promenaders Club will begin square dancing lessons and dances for the season on Sunday, Sept. 13, at 804 1st Street in Welcome. Watchers and dancers are welcome. Call Cheryl for more information at (507) 236-0255.
The Welcome Legion will meet at 7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 14, at the American Legion Hall in Welcome. All members are encouraged to attend.
American Red Cross blood drives will be held on Monday, Sept. 21 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont, at Truman on Oct. 7, at St. Paul’s Community Church in Welcome on Oct. 12 and on Oct. 12 at Sinn Celebration of Life Center in Trimont. Welcome Fall Clean Up Day will be on Oct. 10. This is for Welcome residents. This is a good opportunity to get rid of ordinance violations for free. Clean up before winter sets in.
