TRUMAN--Due to Monday, Sept. 7 being Labor Day, the Truman City Council will now meet at 5:30 pm on Tuesday, Sept. 8.
Truman High School starts on Sept. 8 and the elementary starts on Sept. 10. Breakfast and lunch will be free for the 2026-2027 school year. Please fill out the lunch application forms and return them to the office.
Fairmont and Martin County cleanup will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 8 and from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Sept. 12 at the Martin County Hwy Department, 1200 Marcus Street. Enter from Winnebago Avenue. They will accept household hazardous waste (HHW), appliances and electronics, tires, car batteries and furniture. There is a charge for appliances, electrics, and furniture of $15 each, care tires are $3 each, semi tires/racing tires $10 each, and tractor tires $40 each, but HHW is free. Tuesday Sept. 8 is also FREE pesticide container recycling from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Truman Active Living will meet at 10 am, Tuesday, Sept. 8 at the Truman Museum. Any Truman area resident that is interested in seeing our community continue to provide and improve our facilities is welcome to come and give your input.
Mini crockpot cooking classes for senior citizens will start at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 8 at the Booz apartments in Truman. RSVP to Yvonne at (507) 776-8555. The event will cover learning health and safety for seniors, economical cooking for one or two, taste testing, sharing recipes and introducing other safe, inexpensive mini kitchen appliances. Another class is scheduled for Oct. 13.
Prairieland Solid Waste Management (PSWM) in Truman will have a household hazardous waste collection for Martin and Faribault County residents from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 9. Paint, aerosols, cleaners, lawn/garden product, used gas and oil and more will be accepted for free. Additional information contact PSWM at 507-776-3232.

Call the community education at 507-776-2111 to add your children's name to our preschool census so you can receive up to date mailings about activities that are offered for your children. An accurate census is vital for our programming and district planning.

Sunday, Sept. 13 is National Grandparents Day. A strong family bond lowers the risk of depression in both grandparents and grandkids. A text, phone call or card would be welcome.
Lewisville area volunteer fighting company annual burger bash Sunday, Sept. 13, at the Lewisville Fire Hall. This is a free will donation and to go meals available. Proceeds for equipment.
