Blood drives in September in Fairmont

CEYLON -- Coffee Hours will be from 8:30 to 10 a.m. each Tuesday in September, starting Tuesday, Sept. 1, at St. Paul Community Church in Welcome. Join friends and neighbors for coffee, treats and fellowship.

Coffee Lovers will meet from 8:30 to 10 a.m. each Thursday, in the banquet room at the Lake Belt Bar and Grill in Ceylon. All are invited to join friends for a time of fellowship.

The ladies group from St. Peter Lutheran Church in Ceylon will meet at 1:30 p.m. on Sept. 2, at the church. The Circle of Faith parishes will have September services at 9 a.m. at Waverly Lutheran Church in Trimont, and 10:30 a.m. services at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Ceylon. On Sept. 13 the services will be a combined service at 9 a.m. at St. Peter Church and then a Helping Hands at the Heaven’s Table Food Shelf.

A CREST Lunch and Learn program will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 2, at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Sherburn. The program's speaker will be Joyce Peterson, who will share a slide show of Duluth. Following the program there will be lunch. Please RSVP by calling (507) 235-3833 for a lunch count. These programs are free to senior citizens from Martin County. CREST appreciates a free-will donation.

American Red Cross blood drives continue in September on Sept. 1 and 2 at Best Western in Fairmont and on Sept. 21 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont. Good luck to the Martin County Fair winners who will advance to the Minnesota State Fair. The Minnesota State Fair is now until Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 7. Thank you to the Martin County Fair Board members that always put on a great fair for the area.

Sept. 7 is Labor Day so holiday hours may close some things like school at Martin County West, government offices and mail delivery.

The Ceylon City Council will meet at 6 p.m. on Sept. 8, at City Hall. There is always a time for public comments and questions at the beginning of each meeting. To be on the regular agenda, contact City Hall at (507) 632-4653 before the meeting date.

Helping Hands of Ceylon will distribute Heaven's Table Food Shelf boxes from 10 a.m. to noon on Sept. 15, at 209 West Street in Ceylon.. To sign up or to find information and guidelines, call (507) 236-7850 by Sept. 10. Thank you to the Helping Hands of Ceylon non-profit group for organizing the food boxes deliveries.

The organizational meeting for the Bible Study group at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wilbert will be on Sept. 10. Books will be distributed and future meeting plans will be discussed. The Bible Study will be led by Pastor Jeff Hagen and will be about the Basic Bible Teachings. Area residents are welcome to join them. Wilbert Church will have a sign up sheet in the narthex or residents may contact the St. John Church in Sherburn at (507) 764-5312 or at church@sjlsherburn.com

The Wilbert ladies group LWML will meet at 1:30 p.m. on Sept. 10. All members are encouraged to attend.

St. John’s Lutheran Friendship Club will meet for lunch at noon on Sept. 14 at The Ranch restaurant in Fairmont. Membership at St. John is not required.
