Last Sundaes in the Park this Sunday

SHERBURN -- The St. John’s Lutheran Church women’s group, LWML, will not have the meeting that was initially scheduled for today. The St. John’s ladies will help serve the Tuesday Coffee Hours in Sherburn at their church from 8:30 to 10 a.m. each Tuesday in August. Join friends and neighbors for fellowship, coffee and treats at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn.

The last Sundaes at the Park will be held at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 16, at Triumph Memorial Park, with entertainment by the Fett Brothers. Bring a lawn chair, purchase ice cream and enjoy the music.

The Trimont Farmers Market will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Fridays at Anderson Park. This is the last time the market will have activities for children from 10 a.m. to noon. Fairy gardens and fairy wands will be the craft activity. Haylee Ammann-Ekstrom will read her book, "Ruby the Runaway," and give copies to present families at 11 a.m. The Trimont Farmers Market will not be held on Aug. 21 because the Martin County Fair will be held. The Trimont Farmers Market will not have children’s activities on Aug. 28, but will serve lunch. Watch for more information about the Trimont Farmers Markets in September. Condolences to the family of Judah Petersen, who passed away recently. He will be missed by family and friends.

The Martin County Fair is from Aug. 17 to 23 in Fairmont. Plan to visit Minnesota’s Other Big Fair. Good luck to the exhibitors from FFA, 4-H and open class.

The CREST Lunch and Learn program will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 19, at the First Lutheran Church in Trimont. Carl Beckendorf will explain wood carving. Please RSVP by calling CREST at (507) 235-3833. These programs are free for senior citizens from Martin County. CREST appreciates a free-will donation.

American Red Cross blood drives will be on Aug. 21 at the American Legion Hall in Fairmont, and Sept. 1 and 2 at the Best Western in Fairmont. Call 1-800-733-2767, visit wwwredcrossblood.org or text BLOODAPP to 90999 to make an appointment or find further information. Blood is urgently needed; donate if you are eligible (age 16 or older, weigh 110 pounds or more and are in good health). One donation may save the lives of three people.

The Martin County West School District will begin classes for the high school (grades 7-12 ) on August 20 and the other grades will join them on August 24. Watch for excited children when school classes start, drive safely near the schools. This is a little earlier than other years due to the new school construction and the planned demolition of the high school next year.
