WELCOME -- Wow, Saturday is Aug. 1. That is the day for the second Back-To-School Clothing and School Supplies Drive from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at 26 North Main Street in Sherburn. New or gently used clothes for kids or teens, backpacks, school supplies and hygiene items can be donated.
The Trimont Farmers Market will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today, Friday, July 31 (and all Fridays), and includes activities for children, lunch and vendors.
Because Aug. 1 is the first Saturday of the month, the Welcome Historical Society Museum will be open from 2 to 4 p.m. Check out the many interesting items from the town.
Sundaes at the Park will be at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 2, at Triumph Memorial Park in Trimont. The entertainment will be by Lucy Larson and Bryon Kittleson. Bring lawn chairs, purchase ice cream and enjoy the music.
Condolences to the families of Maureen Pygman, Virginia Ringgenberg, and Richard Hein who passed away recently. They will be missed by family and friends.
The Friendship Club from St. John’s Church will meet at 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 3, at the Little Swan Lake Winery in Estherville, Iowa. All are welcome to join them for lunch. Membership in the club or at St. John’s are not required. All are welcome to join them on the first Monday of the month for meetings.
Coffee Hours will be held from 8:30 to 10 a.m. each Tuesday in August at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn. Join friends and neighbors for fellowship around a cup of coffee and treats.
The Welcome Burn Site will be open for Welcome residents only from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 5. Wood that is six inches in diameter or less, grass clippings and brush are accepted.
CREST Lunch and Learn will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 5, at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Sherburn. The program and lunch are free for Martin County senior citizens. Call CREST at (507) 235-3833 to RSVP.
Hamburger Night will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 5, and Steak Fry Night will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 8, at the American Legion in Sherburn.
The American Red Cross blood drives will be on Aug. 5 at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont, Aug. 10 at the Regional Worship Center in Sherburn, Aug. 21 at the American Legion Hall in Fairmont, and Sept. 1 and 2 at the Best Western in Fairmont. The Circle of Faith Parishes would like to thank those who helped at the Trimont area Vacation Bible School in July. Your support for the area children was appreciated.
Circle of Faith parishes will meet in a combined service at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 9 at the Saxen Lake Home. Plan to attend. The August service schedule is now in effect.
