TRUMAN -- August is Family Fun Month. This is such a wonderful time to make memories before the kids are off to school.
Minnesota State Fair tickets are on sale. Visit the Fairmont Area Chamber of Commerce to purchase your entrance tickets for $17, ride tickets for $40, and bargain books for $5. Truman City Council will meet at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 3 at the Truman Municipal Building. These meetings are open to the public.
CREST will host their monthly Sing-A-Long at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 4, at the Booz Baptist Apartments in Truman. RSVPs are required and can be made by calling (507) 776-8555. This event is open to senior citizens.
The Lutz Cancer Center in Fairmont will offer a cancer support group at 4:30 pm on Tuesday, Aug. 4 at Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Fairmont. This is a monthly support group for patients from any community who have received a cancer diagnosis at any point in their lives. The speaker of the month will be dietitian Corrinna Lenort, RDN, LD. Attendees may share experiences and learn about coping with the challenges of cancer. Caregivers are welcome to attend.
Recycling day is Wednesday, Aug. 5. Place recycling containers on the curb by 7 am.
Household hazardous waste collection will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 5, at Prairieland Solid Waste Management in Truman.
Storytime and a craft will be at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 5, at the Truman City Library.
Truman Pride will meet at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 5, at Truman Public School. Pride in the school, pride in the students and pride in our future. They work together to promote, support and accomplish fun things and resources for the students, staff and school. All are welcome. It is okay to bring your kids. Be a part of something positive.

In September, a Girl Scout troop will convene at the Community Building in Truman. Kelsey Giestfeld will be the troop’s leader. Geistfeld can be reached at kelseydanae_93@hotmail.com.
