MARTIN COUNTY - Though they filed on time, a slate of candidates were posted to the Secretary of State's website Wednesday July 29, the day after the deadline.
One Fairmont candidate, Peter Bode, was added to the mayoral race. Bode was the city's Planning and Zoning Official from 2019 to his 2025 resignation.
Nine candidates were posted to the Secretary of State's website Wednesday for Martin County West's three school board seats. Sarah Jagodzinske Rohman was the only current board member to file again, while Danielle Wilmes and Nathan Vrieze did not file again. Instead, Brandon Clarke, Cameron Kamlitz, Bethany Miller, Tom Studer, Amanda Weihe, Sam Meixell, Paul Schoen and Justin White all filed.
Dunnell also did not have any candidates file for their city elections until the last day. Mark Breyfogle file for the mayoralship, while incumbent Kayla Sybrant and newcomers Lori Goette and Bernie Olberding filed for the two open city council slots.
In Welcome, incumbent Kim Holm filed to run for re-election as a city councilor. She and Lynda Stauter will face a challenge from Tami Gerhardt, who also filed on the last day.
Barring a write-in challenge, the second Ceylon city council spot will now be taken by Todd Peta.
Finally, in an already crowded field of five, Bradford Flohrs chose at the last minute to run for re-election and make it six for Trimont City Council. He and Justin Lubben are being challenged by Stephany Feely, Jon Holtz, Alyssa Niezgocki and Josh Paulson.
The general election will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 3
