CEYLON -- July 28 is a busy day. Coffee Hours will be from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 28, at the Regional Worship Center in Sherburn. The Coffee Hours on Tuesdays in August will be held from 8:30 to 10 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Sherburn. Coffee Hours are from 8:30 to 10 a.m. on Thursdays in the banquet room of Lake Belt Bar and Grill in Ceylon. Two opportunities for fellowship around a cup of coffee and treats with friends and neighbors.
Affidavits of Candidacy for city offices in towns in the area are due on July 28 at City Hall. Ceylon has one Mayor position for a two-year term and two Council members for a four-year term available for the Nov. 3 election.
American Cancer Society Relay for Life of Martin County is scheduled for July 28 from 4 to 9 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Fairmont. This is a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. The Helping Hands of Ceylon will arrange a Ceylon food box distribution in August from the Heaven’s Table Food Shelf. To sign up, call (507) 236-7850 by Aug. 13, and the food boxes will be picked up from 10 a.m. to noon on Aug. 21 at 209 West Street in Ceylon. Sign-up should be done each month, and guidelines will be explained when you call. Thank you to that non-profit group for arranging these food box distributions in Ceylon.
The American Red Cross blood drives will be on Aug. 5 at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont, Aug. 10 at the Regional Worship Center in Sherburn, Aug. 21 at the American Legion Hall in Fairmont, and Sept. 1 and 2 at the Best Western in Fairmont.
