WELCOME -- The Welcome City Council met on Tuesday evening and the council discussed the water issue on the 100 block of Dugan Street.
The council asked for quotes or bids from two companies and did not get any company to file a quote. Rosburg spoke to Mayor Dan Schmidtke and needed more information about the length of digging and extent of repairs.
There were suggestions about using the camera to also go north of the water issue to see if it would show where the water is coming from, and to line the clay tile that is not broken with a liner of some sort, and to word the quote and contract about if the company would find something further and it would cost more, that council would meet on the charges again.
The council approved Rosburg Excavating for the job and put a cap of $10,000 on the quote, so if it cost more, the council would have an emergency meeting. They also approved beginning a new ordinance about not discharging sump pumps on sidewalks and main street. The clerk will look into an ordinance.
The clerk explained a training sponsored by the people who put an outdoor AED/CPR by City Hall. There will be an AED/CPR Naloxone training at 7 p.m. on Aug. 18, at City Hall in Welcome. This is included in the placing of the cabinet at City Hall. Information to sign up is at City Hall through advocates4health.org .
FLASC asked for one contact to relay information to and get information from about the ball fields. The council said they thought they told the school district to contact Paul Hein, the maintenance worker for the ball fields. They asked that the code for the locks on doors be used only by authorized persons like coaches etc., and not students. The codes will be changed each year.
The EDA report from Councilor Glidden said that financially they were fine and that the bond interest payment was met. Several people have offered to plant and harvest alfalfa around the pond. Some suggestions for a Dollar General or similar store for the area, like Welcome and Ceylon, were given for the EDA to discuss.

-- Travis Winter from Bolton and Menk submitted a pay request about the street project.
-- The city needs an upgrade on their website and the council asked the clerk to look into sites and get quotes/bids.
