Truman Days this weekend

TRUMAN -- Truman Days begin today, Thursday, July 23, with garage sales and a food truck. The classic tractor ride from Prairieland Solid Waste will be at 7:30 a.m. on Friday, July 24, and much more. Saturday begins with Dad's Belgian Waffle breakfast on Saturday, July 25, from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Truman Community Building. Take-outs are available. This is sponsored by Trinity Lutheran Church in Truman. Many more events throughout the day, with the grand parade at 5 pm, Steele Prairie playing at the street dance on Ciro Street at 8 p.m. and fireworks at 10 pm. Free swim at the Truman pool from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday for children and adults. Check out the Truman Days schedule of events at sites.google.com/view/truman-days/schedule.

The Truman Historical Museum will host an appreciation open house for Marilyn Carrigan from 2 to 4 p.m. on Friday, July 24. Marilyn, who is no longer a board member, served the museum for many years in various capacities. Please come, enjoy ice cream and treats and thank Marilyn.

Join Trinity Lutheran Church for God Is My Rock Vacation bible school for ages 3 and up. It will be from 2 to 5 p.m. on July 28, 29 and 30. There will be crafts, worship, snacks and water games. Please register with Ashley Parish by July 27 at (507) 829-9741.

Relay for Life will be from 4 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28 at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Fairmont. Silent and regular auctions, activities and survivors’ walk are planned. The next Minnesota Spay and Neuter Assistance Program (MN SNAP) mobile clinic will be on Tuesday, July 28, at Granada City Hall and Fire Department. Registration will open at 10 am on Tuesday, July 14. For more information and registration, visit mnsnap.org.

Notice is hereby given that the general election in the City of Truman will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026. The following offices shall be filled: one mayor for a two-year term, two councilors for four-year terms. The deadline to file is at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at the city clerk's office, at 202 West Ciro Street in Truman.

Household hazardous waste collection will be 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29, at Prairieland Solid Waste Management in Truman. Paint, aerosols, cleaners, lawn/garden products, used gas and oil and more will be accepted.

Minnesota State Fair tickets go on sale. Stop by the Fairmont Area Chamber of Commerce to purchase your entrance tickets for $17, ride tickets for $40, and bargain books for $5.
