Dunnell's 125th anniversary celebration is today, Saturday, July 18. At 9 a.m., there are vendors in the park and children’s activities, a three-on-three basketball competition at 10 a.m. and a family scavenger hunt at 11 a.m., all in the park. City Hall will have bingo at noon and food pantry tours from 2 to 6 p.m. The classic car show is at 3 p.m., and the Community Hall will serve a community dinner for a free-will donation beginning at 5 p.m., with a historic display. There will be a free movie at the City Hall at 6:30 p.m. and a Street Dance featuring the Brad Morgan Band from 8 to 11 p.m. Congratulations on your 125th anniversary, Dunnell.
The Sundaes at the Park will be at 6 p.m. on Sunday, July 19, at Triumph Memorial Park in Trimont. Ryan and Braelyn Faber will perform. Bring a lawn chair and enjoy the music and the ice cream.
St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wilbert will have services at 10 a.m. and its quarterly voters’ meeting on Sunday, July 19.
The Friendship Club from St. John Lutheran Church in Sherburn will have an extra meeting at 1 p.m. on Monday, July 20. Gary Janssen will share his experiences from being an escort on the Honor Flight for veterans to Washington, D.C. All are welcome to join for this interesting presentation. Membership in the club or at St. John Church is not required.
The American Red Cross blood drives will be on July 20, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, Aug. 5 at Grace Lutheran Church, Aug. 10 at the Regional Worship Center in Sherburn and Aug. 21 at the American Legion Hall in Fairmont. Coffee Hours will be from 8:30 to 10 a.m. each Tuesday in July at the Regional Worship Center in Sherburn. Coffee Lovers meets from 8:30 to 10 a.m. each Thursday at the Lake Belt Bar and Grill in Ceylon.
Those who would like to put their name on the ballot for the Nov. 3 election should file an affidavit of candidacy at City Hall. There are positions of mayor for a two-year term and two council members for a four-year term. Several cities in the area are also making affidavits available for their residents. The affidavits can be filed until July 28.
