Storybook Theatre production on July 24
SHERBURN — Today is a busy day.
A CREST Lunch and Learn program will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today, Wednesday, July 15, at the First Lutheran Church in Trimont. Ean Sinn will speak about cremation and answer other funeral questions. There will be lunch after the program. These educational and fun programs are free to all senior citizens from Martin County. CREST appreciates a free-will donation.
A Martin County West School Board meeting will be at 6 p.m. today, Wednesday, July 15, at Sherburn Elementary School.
A Town Hall meeting to discuss the Trimont Elementary School building will be at 6 p.m. today, Wednesday, July 15, at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Trimont.
Burger Night will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Wednesday, July 15, at the American Legion Hall in Sherburn. The menu includes a burger, salad and beans.
Coffee Hours continue from 8:30 to 10 a.m. each Tuesday in July at the Regional Worship Center in Sherburn. Join friends and neighbors for a cup of coffee, treats and a large helping of Fellowship.
The Trimont Farmers Markets are from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each Friday at Anderson Park in Trimont. There will be children’s activities from 10 a.m. to noon, a lunch and many items from local producers and craftsmen.
The Sherburn Library has drop-in crafts and activities from 2:30 to 5 p.m. on Tuesdays and storytime at 3:30 p.m. on Thursdays at the Sherburn Theatre. Children who read during the summer keep most of their reading skills for school in the fall.
The American Red Cross blood drives will be on July 20, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, Aug. 5 at Grace Lutheran Church, Aug. 10 at the Regional Worship Center in Sherburn and Aug. 21 at the American Legion Hall in Fairmont. Blood supply is always lower in the summer months, but the demand for blood is higher, so give blood if you are eligible (age 16 or older, weigh 110 or more and in good health). Thank you. Your blood donation may save up to three people.
Those who would like to be in the city council or MCW School Board candidates for the election on Nov. 3 should file an affidavit of candidacy now until July 28 at City Hall or the school district office.
The Friendship Club from St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn usually has meetings on the first Monday of each month, which they did on July 6. They will have another meeting at 1 p.m. on Monday, July 20, at St. John Church in Sherburn. Gary Janssen will speak about his experiences on the Honor Flight for Veterans to Washington, D.C. Members are asked to bring a snack if possible. Area residents are welcome to join them; membership in the club or at St. John Church is not required. Sounds like a most interesting presentation.
Condolences to the family of Scott Hagen, who passed away recently. He will be remembered at a memorial from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 18, at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Welcome. Gone too soon.
Congratulations to the MCW Trap Shoot Team for a second-place trophy at the 2A Minnesota State High School League Clay Target Tournament.
The Storybook Theatre Summer production will be at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, July 24, at the Sherburn Theatre. Plan to attend.
The American Cancer Society Relay for Life fundraiser will be from 4 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28, at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Fairmont. Teams will raise funds with memorials and luminaries, and silent and regular auctions of items, with many more activities. Plan to attend.
