Sherburn Legion Hamburger Night tonight
SHERBURN — A CREST Lunch and Learn program will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today, Wednesday, June 17, at the First Lutheran Church in Trimont. The program will be followed by lunch. Please RSVP at (507) 235-3833. These programs are free to Martin County senior citizens. CREST appreciates a free-will donation.
The Sherburn Legion will have its Hamburger Night from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Wednesday, June 17. Purchase a burger, salad and baked beans for only $12. What a deal.
The Regional Worship Center in Sherburn will have a Youth Night at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 18, with a meal, Bible study and fun.
The Sherburn Library will have storytime at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, June 18, at the Sherburn Theatre, featuring a 4H Adventure. Storytime will be on June 25, at the Sherburn Theatre, featuring Sustainable Safari. Note the change of location those days. The Sherburn Library has drop in arts and crafts from 2:30 to 5 p.m. on Tuesdays and Storytimes at 3:30 p.m. on Thursdays during the summer.
The Trimont Farmers Market will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Fridays at Anderson Park in Trimont. Vendors, lunch, and children’s activities will fundraise for the Trimont Community Food Shelf. Plan to attend.
Condolences to the family of Dennis Becker, who passed away recently. He will be missed.
The Red Cross Blood drive will be at the Fairmont Legion on June 19 and on June 29 they will be at St. Paul’s Community Church in Welcome and Trimont’s Covenant Church and Truman’s community hall, all times are noon to 6 p.m. that day. Blood is urgently needed especially in the summer months and donations are usually lower during the summer. Each donation may save three lives. Thank you for giving blood.
The movies at the Sherburn Theatre have been missing for some time and the area residents are working to help the theater with donations to help them purchase the digital server needed to resume showtimes. The KJ Sound music will have a donation bucket available when Kari plays music at the Firemen’s Chicken Feed Street Dance on Friday, June 19 and when she plays music at the City Park on Saturday, June 20 from 3 to 6 p.m. Thank you to the Lion’s Club for starting off the donations with a generous $5,000. That is approximately one third the funds needed to get a server and resume the movies at the Sherburn Theatre. The City Hall will be a donation spot. If anyone would like to mail in a donation the address would be Box 667 Sherburn, MN 56171 and please write Theatre Project on the donation slip or check.
This Weekend the Sherburn Festival will be held. On Friday, June 19 the Fire Department Relief Association will have their annual Chicken Feed Fundraiser from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Firehall with a menu of chicken, sweet corn, beans and beverages. Supper music will be provided by Steve Lang. There will also be a Street Dance from 8 p.m. to midnight at the fire hall with music by KJ Sound. On Saturday, June 20, the City Park will be the place for food and fun. A classic car and tractor show will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and a sand volleyball tournament begins at 9 a.m. There will be a vendor and craft show from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Food stands will be available from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and the beer garden will be open from noon to 6 p.m. Also inflatables for children will be available at the park. Don’t miss the parade at 1 p.m. The Shell’s Hobo Band will be at the park after the parade. Pedal Pull will be held from 2:30 to 4 p.m. KJ Sound will be playing music at the park from 3-6 p.m. and the raffle drawing will be held at 6 p.m. The Fox Lake Event Center north of Sherburn (730 125th St) will have a dance from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. featuring the Fat City All Stars band and will have pork chops on a stick available until gone. There will be a city-wide garage sale map at Casey’s and Bank Midwest for this weekend’s garage sales. Sherburn is the place to be this weekend.
Sundaes at the Park event will be at 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 21, featuring entertainment from Glenn Henriksen and delicious ice cream at the Triumph Memorial Park in Trimont.
The Memory Cafe will have a free support meeting for family and care givers of patients with any kind of dementia at 3 p.m. on Monday, June 22, at the Temperance Lake Ridge in Sherburn. The public is welcome.
Coffee Hours will be from 8:30 to 10 a.m. each Tuesday in June at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Sherburn. Join friends and neighbors for good fellowship around a cup of coffee and treats.

A Tie Dye Fundraiser for the Healing Hearts Housing will be at noon on Sunday, June 28, at the Sherburn Community Center. Bring a t- shirt to dye. Entry fee is $20. The Civic and Commerce Club will meet at noon on July 2 at Bank Midwest. The public is welcome.
The Friendship Club from St. John’s Lutheran Church will meet for breakfast at 9:30 a.m. on July 6 at Green Mill in Fairmont. Area residents are welcome to join them. Membership in the club or at St. John Church is not required.
