Area blood drives planned in June
WELCOME — Martin County West has no school today for a teacher’s workshop and no school on Monday since that is the Memorial Day holiday.
Memorial Day programs are planned for area towns on Monday, May 25. The Welcome Legion will have a Memorial Day program at 9 a.m. Ean Sinn will be the speaker. The Sherburn Memorial Day program will be at 10:30 a.m. at the City Park. Eagle Scout Jonah Striemer will be the speaker. The Boy Scouts will have a picnic for a free-will donation at the shelter house following the program. If it rains all will be held at the Martin County West High School. All area residents are welcome to attend.
The Welcome Burn Site will be open from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 23. Wood, branches, brush and grass clippings six inches in diameter or smaller are accepted. Please do not bring garbage or metal items. Thank you for the cooperation.
Condolences to the families of Ronald Snyder, Julie (Lueck) Roccaforte, Bette Stevens and Myrna Behrens from Fraser Township. They will all be missed by family and friends.
The last Coffee Hour on Tuesdays in May will be from 8:30 to 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 26, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome. Coffee Hours from 8:30 to 10 a.m. on Tuesdays in June will be at St. Luke Catholic Church in Sherburn. Join friends and neighbors for good coffee, treats and fellowship.
The American Red Cross blood drives will be on June 2 and 3 at the Best Western in Fairmont, on June 19 at the Fairmont Legion, on June 15 at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Trimont and on June 29 in Truman. Please call for appointments or more information about blood drives in the area at 800-RED-CROSS (800-733-2767), go online to www.redcrossblood.org or text BLOODAPP to 90999. Each blood donation may save three lives.
Thank you to Sherburn/Welcome Police Department Chief of Police Trevor Yochim for having a Law Enforcement Day at Sherburn Elementary School this month. We appreciate your efforts.
June is coming soon. The Circle of Faith Parishes will rotate services so that the same parishes will not always have special services. In June the services for the Circle of Faith Parishes will be held at 9 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Trimont and at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran church in Welcome. Mark your calendars and plan to attend.
