TRUMAN — Truman Public Schools graduation commencement will be at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 22. Congratulations to all the 2026 graduates. Great things await you as you are our future.
Originally called Decoration Day, from the early tradition of decorating graves with flowers, wreaths and flags, Memorial Day is a day for remembrance. In our hearts, we hold the joyous memories of departed loved ones. Honor them with love and dignity this Memorial Day.
The Lewisville Legion Auxiliary will serve a Memorial Day breakfast from 6:30 to 9 am on Monday, May 25, at the Lewisville Legion.
The Memorial Day Program will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 25, at the Truman Community Building. Kevin Lutterman will be the speaker. The picnic lunch and bake sale will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The Lewisville Legion drill squad will be at the following cemeteries on Memorial Day, recognizing the sacrifices of soldiers and military members who have lost their lives in service to our country, beginning at 8 a.m. at the Legion, 8:50 a.m. at South Branch, 9:10 a.m. at Ridgelawn, 9:20 a.m. at St. John’s Antrim, 9:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Truman, 9:45 a.m. at Antrim Public, 10:15 a.m. at St. John’s Willow Creek North and 10:45 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Lewisville.
Plan ahead for new things at the Truman Library. Sign Language Basics will be at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 26. The summer reading for kids is from June 8 to Aug. 5. Special events this summer include a zoo, magic show, 4-H presentations and fun activities. Come to the library and find out more about it. Hours are from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. Monday to Friday. Truman Elementary School awards will be at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 26.
Truman Public School students will be dismissed on the last day of school at noon on Friday, May 29.
Lewisville Fun Daze will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 26, at the Lewisville Legion. Please come. Volunteers are still needed.
Household Hazardous Waste Collection will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, May 27, at Prairieland Solid Waste Management in Truman.

The Fairmont Area Chamber of Commerce Agri-business and Martin County Pork Producers have announced the 28th annual Blue Ribbon Pork cook-off from 5 to 7 p.m. on Aug. 13 in the Martin County Arena at the Martin County Fairgrounds in Fairmont. Blue ribbon pork cook-off tickets are available for $12 at the Fairmont Chamber of Commerce.
A Hard Day’s Night Beatles Tribute Band will perform at 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 11, at the Fairmont High School Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $20 in advance, and $25 at the door. Proceeds go to Empower Coalition. Tickets are available at Hy-Vee, Fareway, State Bank and First Farmers and Merchants Bank.

Be sure to pick up a schedule of events for Lewisville’s 125th anniversary celebration, June 19 and June 20. Festivities begin at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, June 19, and end with the Tanner Stark Band from 8 to 11 p.m.
Saturday begins with the Tractor Cade beginning at 7:30 am, Dad’s Belgian waffles from 8-10:30 am, and at 9 am, the Saturday co-ed softball tournament, Ball Diamond.
