CEYLON — Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Ceylon will have its 5:30 p.m. service with communion tonight, Saturday, May 16. They invite area residents to join them for Bible Study at 10 a.m. each Tuesday.

The Helping Hands of Ceylon reminds those who signed up for Heaven’s Table food boxes that the pick-up date is from 9 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, May 19, at 209 West Street.

Coffee Hours will be from 8:30 to 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 19, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome. Join friends and neighbors for good coffee, treats and fellowship.

The Coffee Lovers group will meet for coffee and fellowship from 8:30 to 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 21, in the banquet room/back room of the Lake Belt Bar and Grill in Ceylon. Area residents are welcome to join them each Thursday morning.

The CREST Lunch and Learn program will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 20, at First Lutheran Church in Trimont. The program is free for senior citizens in Martin County. CREST appreciates a free-will donation. The lunch will follow the program. Please call (507) 235-3833 to RSVP.

The American Red Cross blood drives will be on Monday, May 18, at the St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont, on Wednesday, May 20, at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont, on June 2 and 3 at the Best Western in Fairmont, on June 19 at the American Legion in Fairmont, on June 15 at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Trimont and on June 29 in Truman. Blood is needed every two seconds in the United States. The supply is low now, so give if you are eligible (ages 16 and up, weigh 110 or more and in good health). Thank you. The Lake Belt Bar and Grill in Ceylon will have a cornhole tournament from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 23. There will be prizes for the top teams. Sign up for the fun.

The Ceylon City Council will have a city meeting at 7 p.m. on June 2, at the park shelter house. The council will discuss any issues that Ceylon residents face and bring up. If this meeting is successful, they may have a quarterly meeting with residents. Please be concise and courteous. Plan to attend.

St. John’s Lutheran Church Friendship Club will have a Day Trip on July 18 to the Plymouth Playhouse in Iowa to see the play, the Church Basement Ladies sequel, “A Second Helping”. The cost is $120 per person, which includes the bus transportation, dinner and show. They need 40 people to sign up.
