Spruce Up group looks for donations for plants

TRUMAN — If any Truman Veteran has passed within the last year and their family would like to have their name listed on the Memorial Day roll call, contact Pat Jones at (507) 236-4433.

Lewisville Spring Fling Day will be on Saturday, May 2, and will begin with a garage and bake sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., in the old city hall. No clothes, but lots of must-have items. The Beer, Wine and Bacon event is from 3 to 6 p.m. in the Lewisville Fire Hall. Tickets cost $30 and are sold at the door or at the Lewisville Legion before the event. This event is a fundraiser for Lewisville’s 125th celebration.

Cheezers food truck will be available from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 2, in Lewisville. This is a brand new food truck from Fairmont.

The Truman City Council will meet at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, May 4. All meetings are open to the public.

The Lutz Cancer Center at the Mayo Clinic Health System in Fairmont provides a monthly support group for patients from any community who have received a cancer diagnosis at any point in their lives. The support group offers compassionate, cancer-related education and support provided by different guest speakers in a variety of key roles. Attendees may share experiences and learn about coping with the challenges of cancer. Caregivers are welcome to attend. The meetings are held from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday of every month. It is a free offering. For more information, call 507-238-8100.

Recycling Day is Wednesday, May 6. Place recycling containers on the curb by 7 a.m. Egg cartons, pizza boxes, Styrofoam and plastic grocery bags are prohibited. All recycled items must be cleaned.

Household Hazardous Waste Collection will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6, at Prairieland Solid Waste Management in Truman.

Truman Pride will meet at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6. Pride in the school, pride in the students and pride in our future. They work together to promote, support and accomplish fun things and resources for the students, staff and school. All are welcome. It is okay to bring your kids. Be a part of something positive.

The Spruce Up Truman Committee would like donations to buy plants for their planters on Truman’s Main Street. Proceeds will purchase plants and potting soil to refresh the posts. Any donation amount is appreciated. Donations can be mailed to the Truman Museum, PO Box 56, Truman, MN 56088. Donations can also be dropped off at the museum from 1 to 4 p.m. on Fridays.

Truman Active Living is hoping to sponsor a Farmers’ Market. Please contact Pat Jones at (507) 236-4433 or another TAL member if you are interested in participating. If you have garden items, crafts, etc. and would be interested in having a table/booth, TAL would love to have you join.
