Welcome Historical Society to open Saturday
WELCOME — Today is Good Friday, and area churches have special services. Circle of Faith Parishes meet at First Lutheran Church in Trimont at 7 p.m., St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn and their partner church, St. Paul’s in Wilbert, will have 6 p.m. services at each church. On Sunday, April 5, Easter services for Circle of Faith Parishes will be at Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome at 9 a.m. St. Paul’s Community Church in Welcome will have a 7 a.m. service followed by a Pancake breakfast. St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Sherburn will have a 10:30 a.m. service. Their regular services will be at 10:30 a.m. from April to June. St. John’s Lutheran in Sherburn will have two services, one at 7 a.m. and one at 9:30 a.m., with a breakfast and egg hunt in between. Their partner Church, St. Paul’s in Wilbert, will have a breakfast at 8:30 a.m. and a service at 10 a.m. The Regional Worship Center in Sherburn will have a breakfast at 8:30 a.m. and a service at 10 a.m. Area residents are welcome to join any of these churches for services.
There are Easter Egg Hunts planned in the area on Saturday, April 4. The Welcome Fire Department will have a hunt at 10 a.m. at Hansen-Keck Park. Sherburn will have a hunt at 9 a.m. at the City Park. Trimont will have a hunt and activities from 10 a.m. to noon at the Trimont Town Center. Dunnell will have a hunt at 10:30 a.m. at the City Park. The Lake Belt Bar and Grill in Ceylon will have a Kids Easter Bingo at 2 p.m.
The Welcome Historical Society Museum will be open from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 4. Check out the interesting items at the museum on Hulseman Street.
The Welcome City Council will meet at 6 p.m. on April 7 at the City Hall. There is always a time for public comments and questions at the beginning of each meeting. To be on the regular agenda, contact the City Hall at (507) 728-8740 before the meeting date.
American Red Cross blood drives will be on April 8 at Truman Public School, on April 13 at the Regional Worship Center in Sherburn, on April 17 at the American Legion Hall in Fairmont and on April 27 at Martin Luther High School in Northrop. The Ceylon Community Day Auction and City-wide Rummage Sales will be on April 11. Plan to attend. Maps for the rummage sales will be available at the bus (auction office) and the post office.
There will be a Nutt Fry on April 10 at the Lake Belt Bar and Grill.
CREST’s Lunch and Learn program will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on April 15 at First Lutheran Church in Trimont. RSVP by calling (507) 235-3833.
The Welcome Burn Site will be open from 8 a.m. to noon on the second Saturday of the month from April to November, starting April 11. Please bring only wood that is six inches or less in diameter, brush, leaves and grass clippings. No garbage or large stumps or branches. Thank you for your cooperation.

The Martin Luther High School Spring Rummage and Bake Sale will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 16, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 17 and from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 18.
