SHERBURN — Watch out for people trying to fool you today.
A CREST Lunch and Learn program will be at 11 a.m. today, Wednesday, April 1, at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Sherburn. The program will be about brain health. These programs are free for Martin County senior citizens. CREST appreciates a free-will donation.
CREST will have Toolbox for Caregivers from 9:30 to 11 a.m. each Thursday in April, at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Sherburn. The cost is a suggested $10 donation to cover the materials. This will begin on Thursday, April 2.
Lenten Services continue this Holy Week and for Easter. St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Sherburn has a Good Friday service at 3 p.m. and an Easter service at 10:30 a.m. From April to June, St. Luke’s services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Sundays. The Regional Worship Center in Sherburn will have an Easter Breakfast at 8:30 a.m. and worship at 10 a.m. St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn will have a Maundy Thursday service at 6 p.m. and their partner church in Wilbert will have a 7:30 p.m. service. Both will have communion. On Good Friday, St. John and Wilbert will both have 6 p.m. services. St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn will have two services on Easter at 7 and 9:30 a.m., with a breakfast and an Easter Egg Hunt for children at 8:30 a.m. Their partner church in Wilbert will have a breakfast beginning at 8 a.m. and services at 10 a.m. The Circle of Faith Parishes will meet at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Ceylon for 7 p.m. Maundy Thursday services and on Good Friday, they will meet at First Lutheran Church in Trimont at 7 p.m. On Easter Sunday, the parishes will meet at Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome at 9 a.m. The ladies’ group in Ceylon will have a WELCA meeting at 1:30 p.m. today, Wednesday, April 1. In the rest of April, the services will be at 9 a.m. at St. Peter in Ceylon and at 10:30 a.m. at Waverly Lutheran Church north of Welcome.
There are various Easter Egg Hunts planned for area communities on April 4. Sherburn will have a 9 a.m. hunt at the City Park. Welcome will have a 10 a.m. hunt at Hansen-Keck Park. The Trimont Town Center will have a hunt from 10 a.m. to noon. Dunnell will have a hunt at 10:30 at the City Park. Ceylon will have a 2 p.m. Kids Easter Bingo at the Lake Belt Bar and Grill.
Condolences to the family of Delores Armstrong, who passed away recently. She will be missed by family and friends.
The Sherburn Legion will have its Hamburger Night from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight, Wednesday, April 1. $12 will purchase a burger, salad and baked beans.
The Friendship Club from St. John’s church will meet for lunch at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 6, at The Still Bar and Grill in Dunnell. Area residents are welcome to join. Membership at St. John’s is not required. Join them for lunch and fellowship.
A Caregiver’s Support Group will meet at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 6, at the Sinn Celebration of Life Center in Trimont. Anyone caring for a dementia patient or other patients is welcome to attend.
The Mayo Mobile Clinic will be in Sherburn from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on April 6 and April 8 near the City Hall on 1st Street. Call the appointment number at (507) 238-8500 and mention the Sherburn Clinic.
Tuesday Coffee Hours begin from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. each Tuesday in April (7, 14, 21, 28) at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Trimont. Join friends for coffee, treats and fellowship.
The American Red Cross blood drives will be on April 8 at the Truman High School, from 1 to 6 p.m. on April 13 at the Regional Worship Center in Sherburn, on April 17 at the American Legion Hall in Fairmont and on April 27 at Martin Luther High School in Northrop. Martin County West Schools are on spring break, and school will resume on Tuesday, April 7. The spring sports teams are playing now, and the seniors are on their trip. The baseball team plays against Madelia on Thursday, April 2, at 4:30 p.m. The boys and girls’ golf teams will be at Alden Conger’s Oakview Golf Course at 4:30 p.m. The track and field teams will compete on Thursday, April 2, against Mountain Lake at 4:30 p.m. The baseball team will play on Monday, April 6, at Truman at 4:30 p.m. The softball team will play on Monday, April 6, at the Welcome field against Minnesota Valley Lutheran at 4:30 p.m. The track and field teams will be at Sleepy Eye on Monday, April 6, at 4 p.m. On Tuesday, April 7, they will compete against multiple schools at St. James from 4 to 7 p.m. Good luck, Mavericks.
