Area Easter egg hunts planned

CEYLON — CREST will host Toolbox for Caregivers from 9:30 to 11 a.m. each Thursday in April at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Sherburn (212 North Prairie). Please sign up for the classes by March 31 at (507) 235-3833. There is a suggested donation of $10 to help pay for the materials.

CREST will have a Lunch and Learn from noon to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31, at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Trimont on Apple Street. The presentation will be about colon health and the prevention of colon disease, presented by Windom Area Health. Call (507) 831-0620 to sign up.

Thursday Coffee Hours continue from 8:30 to 10 a.m. each Thursday, at the Lake Belt Bar and Grill’s banquet room. Area residents are welcome to join them for coffee and fellowship.

Sunday is Palm Sunday, and the week following is called Holy Week and area churches are scheduling special services for this week before Easter. The Circle of Faith parishes will meet at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Ceylon at 9 a.m. Sunday and at 10:30 a.m at Waverly Lutheran Church, north of Welcome. On Maundy Thursday, April 2, they will meet at St. Peter Church at 7 p.m., and on Good Friday, they will meet at First Lutheran Church in Trimont at 7 p.m. Easter Sunday services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome at 9 a.m. St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wilbert will have Maundy Thursday services at 7:30 p.m. with communion and Good Friday services (April 3) at 6 p.m. They will have an Easter Breakfast at 8 a.m. and then services at 9:30 a.m. St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Sherburn will have Easter services at 10:30 a.m. The Regional Worship Center in Sherburn will have a breakfast at 8:30 a.m. and an Easter service at 10 a.m. Area residents are welcome to join any of these churches for services.

Easter egg hunts will be held in various towns on April 4. Sherburn Lions will have an egg hunt at 9 a.m. at the City Park. Welcome will have an egg hunt at 10 a.m. at Hansen Keck Park. Trimont will have an egg hunt from 10 to noon at the Town Center. Dunnell will have an egg hunt at 10:30 a.m. at the City Park. A Kids Easter Bingo will be at 2 p.m. at the Lake Belt Bar and Grill in Ceylon.

Ceylon’s 91st annual Community Day Auction will be on April 11. The Ceylon Area Historical Society will open the Museum from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Community Day. Lots to see and do in Ceylon that day. The Lake Belt Bar and Grill will have a Nutt Fry beginning at 5 p.m. on Friday, April 10, the day before the sale date.

The Friendship Club from St. John’s church will meet for lunch at 11 a.m. on April 6, at The Still Bar and Grill in Dunnell. Area residents are encouraged to join. Membership at St. John’s is not required.

The Helping Hands of Ceylon group is organizing and distributing the Heaven’s Table food boxes in Ceylon. Call (507) 236-7850 before April 9 to get information about the guidelines and sign up. The boxes will be ready for pick up from 9 a.m. to noon on April 21.

Condolences to the family of Larry Puhrman of Welcome, who passed away recently. He was an organizer of the cribbage tournaments held in Welcome.

The cribbage tournaments are closed for the summer. Hopefully, they will continue in the fall.
