WELCOME — A Fish and Shrimp Fry will be from 5 to 7 p.m. tonight, Friday, March 27, at the Welcome Legion, sponsored by the 11U baseball team in Northrop.

The Martin County West Drama Department will show its spring musical, “The Olympians,” at 7 p.m. today, Friday, March 27, and Saturday, March 28 at the Sherburn Theatre. The musical is about the Greek Goddesses challenging their male-dominated hierarchy of Mount Olympus. Three mortal champions are selected to compete in a quest to become an Olympic heroine. Local talents will be led by director Alaina Baker, accompanied by the pit band. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students. There will also be a concession stand and a bake sale.

Condolences to the family of Larry Puhrman, former teacher and coach. Larry arranged the cribbage tournaments in the past. He will be missed by many.

The cribbage tournaments are closed for the summer, hopefully opening again in October.

Sunday is Palm Sunday and the week following is called Holy Week. Area churches will have special services that week. April 2 is Maundy Thursday and the Circle of Faith parishes will meet at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Ceylon at 7 p.m. The St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn will have services at 6 p.m. and their partner church, St. Paul’s in Wilbert, will meet at 7:30 p.m. On Good Friday, 4-3, the Circle of Faith parishes are scheduled to meet at First Lutheran Church in Trimont at 7 p.m. St. John’s will have a 6 p.m. service and the church in Wilbert will also have a 6 p.m. service. St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Sherburn will have Good Friday services at 3 p.m. and on Saturday will have an Easter Vigil in Lakeville at 8 p.m. Easter services will be at 10:30 a.m. From April to June, St. Luke’s services will be on Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m. Easter services for the Circle of Faith parishes will be at Trinity in Welcome at 9 a.m. Easter services for St. John’s in Sherburn will be at 7 a.m. and at 9:30 a.m., with an egg hunt at 8:30 a.m. Their partner church, St. Paul’s in Wilbert, will have an Easter Breakfast at 8:30 a.m. and the service will be at 9:30 a.m. St. Paul’s Community Church in Welcome

will have an Easter service at 7 a.m. and a pancake breakfast to follow. The Regional Worship Center in Sherburn will have an Easter breakfast at 8:30 a.m. and a service at 10 a.m. Area residents are welcome to join any of these churches for services. It is not about the bunny, but it is about the Lamb. Have a Happy and Safe Easter.

The Lake Promenaders Square Dance group will meet at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 29, at 804 1st Street in Welcome. Dancers and watchers are welcome.

The Welcome Historical Society will open the museum on Hulseman Street on the first Saturday of the month from April to September. It will be open from 2 to 4 p.m. on April 4. CREST will have a “Toolbox for Caregivers” program from 9:30 to 11 a.m. each Thursday in April at the Sinn Celebration of Life Center in Sherburn (212 North Prairie). Please sign up for classes by calling (507) 235-3833 by Tuesday, March 31. There is a suggested donation of $10 to help pay for the materials.

Easter egg hunts for children will be held in various towns on April 4. Welcome will have an egg hunt at 10 a.m. at Hansen Keck Park. Sherburn Lions will have an egg hunt at 9 a.m. at the City Park. Trimont will have an egg hunt from 10 to noon at the Town Center. Dunnell will have an egg hunt at 10:30 a.m. at the City Park. A Kids Easter Bingo will be at 2 p.m. at the Lake Belt Bar and Grill in Ceylon.
