Truman City Council meets March 16

TRUMAN — “Nursing home protection trusts: What you need to know,” a free event for the public, will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. tonight, Thursday, March 12, at Truman Public School. Registration is required. Call (507) 226-2111 ext. 3912. Take this opportunity to learn how you can protect your home or farm for the next generation.

Bingo Night will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 13, in the TPS boardroom. Admission is $5 per person. Free open gym will be from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 15, at TPS. Bring your friends and enjoy an afternoon of fun. Lego activities will be from 3 to 5 p.m. in the home economics room. Bring your own snack, beverage provided. Legos are provided. Registration is required. Grades 3 and younger must be accompanied by an adult.

Lewisville Legion Auxiliary will have a chicken supper from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 15.

The Truman City Council will meet at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, March 16. The public is welcome to attend.

Recycling day is Wednesday, March 18. Place recycling containers on the curb by 7 a.m. Egg cartons, pizza boxes, styrofoam and plastic grocery bags are prohibited. Recycled items must be clean.

Join the CREST sing-along at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 17, at the Booz Baptist Apartments in Truman.

The CREST Lunch and Learn will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 18 at First Lutheran Church in Trimont. Please RSVP at (507) 235-3833 by Tuesday, March 17. The program will be about the alert link medical alert system, presented by an Interfaith Caregivers in Blue Earth representative. These programs are free to senior citizens in Martin County. CREST appreciates a free-will donation for the lunch.

As the blood supply is so short, mark your calendars for the following American Red Cross blood drive dates and locations: noon to 6 p.m. on March 17, at Winnebago Community Center, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on April 8, at TPS, 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. on April 27, at Martin Luther High School in Northrop, 1:30 to 6:30 p.m. on May 11, at Amboy Presbyterian Church and noon to 6 p.m. on June 29, at Truman Community Building.

Second Harvest Heartland, nutrition assistance program for seniors, will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 18, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Truman. Eligibility is based on age, 60 years and up, household size, and income. Pre-register at 1-800-365-0270.

The Trinity Lutheran Church will be serving stew, breadsticks, cookies and a beverage from 5:15 to 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday, March 18, for a free-will donation. The public is welcome. The Lenten worship Holden service begins at 6:30 p.m. The public is welcome.
