Daylight Saving Time tonight
CEYLON — A cribbage tournament will begin with registration at 1:15 p.m. today, March 7, at the Welcome Legion Hall. There will be tournaments on Saturdays, March 14 and 21. All area cribbage players are welcome to join the fun.
Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Ceylon will have its Saturday evening service at 5:30 p.m. tonight, March 7. They invite area residents to the Bible Class at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesdays.
The Lake Belt Bar and Grill in Ceylon will have horse racing and meat raffles at 2 p.m. today, March 7. There is a plan for Music Bingo from 4 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 14. Plan to attend.
The Ceylon Fire Department Relief Association will have a Pancake Feed from 9 a.m. to noon on Sunday, March 8, at the banquet room in the back of the Lake Belt Bar and Grill in Ceylon. The menu includes pancakes, French toast, scrambled eggs, ham, sausage and juice. A free-will donation will help the Ceylon Fire Department purchase needed equipment. Good food for a good cause. Plan to attend.

Condolences to the family of Dennis Leiding, a former Ceylon resident, who passed away recently. He will be missed by family and friends.
The Ceylon City Council will meet at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 10, at the City Hall. There is always a time for public comments/questions at the beginning of each meeting. To be on the regular agenda, please contact the City Hall prior to the meeting date at (507) 632- 4653.
Lenten midweek services continue on Wednesday, March 11, at area churches with St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wilbert hosting their partner church from Sherburn at a 6 p.m. lenten service at Wilbert with a cooperative lunch to follow. The ladies’ group LWML at Wilbert will meet on March 12 at 1:30 p.m. The Circle of Faith parishes will meet at Waverly Lutheran Church, north of Welcome, for a meal at 6 p.m. and services to follow at 7 p.m. St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Sherburn will have 8:30 a.m. morning services. Their partner churches in Lakefield and Jackson have evening services on Wednesday. St. Luke’s also has a Stations of the Cross event on Tuesdays with a service at 5:30 p.m. and Mass at 6 p.m. with a meal at 6:30 p.m. Area residents are welcome to join any of these churches for services.

CREST’s Lunch and Learn program will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on March 18, at First Lutheran Church in Trimont. Please RSVP at (507) 235-3833. The program will be presented by a representative of Interfaith Caregivers from Blue Earth about the Alertlink Medical Alert System. Martin County senior citizens are invited for free and a luncheon will follow the program. CREST does appreciate a free-will donation.
Helping Hands of Ceylon non-profit group is helping with the delivery of Heaven’s Table food boxes. Call (507) 236-7850 for more information on guidelines and dates and to sign up by March 12. The pick up date is from 9 a.m. to noon on March 17.
The Ceylon Community Day is scheduled for April 11, and there are usually many garage sales that day besides the auction rings. The maps are usually at the auction office bus and the post office in Ceylon.
