WELCOME — A cribbage tournament will begin with registration at 1:15 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 7, at the Welcome Legion Hall. There will be tournaments on March 14 and 21. Area cribbage lovers are welcome to join the fun.

A Sherburn Lions Club Pancake Feed will be from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 8, at the Martin County West High School in Sherburn. Proceeds will help their community projects. A Pancake Feed benefiting the Ceylon Fire Department will be from 9 a.m. to noon on Sunday, March 8 at the Lake Belt Bar in Grill in Ceylon. Good food and good causes in both cities.

The Sherburn Theatre will show, “EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert” at 7 p.m. Friday, March 6 and Saturday, March 7 and 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 8.

The American Red Cross blood drives will be at the Fairmont High School today, March 6 and at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont on March 16. There is a shortage of blood now so give if you can. Thank you.

Lenten Midweek Services continue in area churches on March 11, with a 6 p.m. meal at Waverly Lutheran Church north of Welcome followed by a 7 p.m. service for the Circle of Faith Parishes. St. John Lutheran Church in Sherburn will travel to their partner church St. Paul’s in Wilbert for a 6 p.m. service followed by a cooperative luncheon. St. Luke Catholic Church in Sherburn has 8:30 a.m. services on Wednesday. They also have a stations of the cross available on Tuesdays at 5:30 p.m. and Mass at 6 p.m. followed by a meal at 6:30 p.m. Area residents are welcome to join any of these churches for services. St. John’s ladies group LWML will meet on Wednesday at 2 p.m.

Don’t forget to turn your clocks ahead one hour this Saturday or at 2 a.m. on Sunday to enter daylight savings time.

The Welcome Legion will meet at 7 p.m. on Monday, March 9. All members are urged to attend.

Township elections and annual meetings is on March 10. Check area newspapers for times and locations. Galena and Manyaska Townships will meet at 8 p.m., Elm Creek township will meet at 4 p.m., Jay Township meets at 4 p.m. at the Regional Worship Center in Sherburn, Fraser Township meets at 8 p.m. at the Welcome City Hall and Fox Lake will meet at 4 p.m. at their town hall.

The deadline to apply for the Easy Automation Inc. $1,000 scholarship is April 1, 2026. Applications are at the EAI building in Welcome.
