Welcome City Council meets March 3
WELCOME — Lenten Midweek services continue with the Circle of Faith Parishes meeting at Waverly Lutheran Church north of Welcome for a meal at 6 p.m. and the service at 7 p.m. St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn will host their partner church from Wilbert at a 6 p.m. service followed by a supper of cheeseburger or chicken crock pot sandwiches served by the Youth Group. St. Luke’s Catholic Church has 8:30 a.m. services on Wednesdays and their partner churches in Lakefield and Jackson have evening services.
The Cribbage Tournaments will be held the first, second and third Saturdays in March at the Welcome Legion Hall beginning at 1:15 p.m. with registration. Circle Saturdays, March 7, 14 and 21 on your calendar and join them for an afternoon of fun.
A Dementia Caregiver Support Group will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 2, at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Trimont. Any caregiver or family member of a patient with any kind of dementia is welcome to attend.
The Friendship Club from St. John’s Lutheran Church will meet for snacks and a movie, “A Man Called Otto,” at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, March 2, at the church. Area residents are welcome to join the fellowship. Membership at St. John’s is not required.
The Welcome City Council will meet at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3 at the City Hall. There is always a time for public comment/question at the beginning of each meeting. To be on the regular agenda, call the City Hall at (507) 728-8740 prior to the meeting date.
The Sherburn Theatre will show the movie, “I Can Only Imagine 2” at 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 27, and Saturday, Feb. 28, and at 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 1.
A CREST Lunch and Learn program will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 4, at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Sherburn. This is a free program for senior citizens in Martin County. CREST appreciates a free-will donation.
Hamburger Night will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 4, at the Sherburn Legion.
Condolences to the families of Edith Wayman and Joann (John) Hilgendorf, of the Welcome area, who passed away recently. They will be missed by family and friends.

The American Red Cross Blood drives will be at the Martin County West High School March 4 and at the Fairmont High School on March 6 with a blood drive scheduled for St. John Vianney in Fairmont on March 16. The Welcome Legion is scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. on Monday, March 9 at the Legion Hall. All members are encouraged to attend.
The Bruce Larson Memorial Scholarship from EAI (Easy Automation) is offered for students attending two or four year college or vocational school and pursuing a degree in electrical programs. The $1000 scholarship deadline for application is April 1, 2026. Bruce was a 20-year employee at EAI who died from cancer in 2015.
