FFA Week approaching

TRUMAN — Truman Lions Club Burger Bash will be held from 5 to 7 pm, Saturday, Feb. 21 at the Truman Community Building. Come and enjoy a fresh burger, beans, condiments, chips and a beverage. To-go is available.

FFA week is from Feb. 21 to Feb. 28. Wear Blue Day to show FFA pride is on Friday, Feb. 27. FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students and agriculture.

The Jaguar (Truman/Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Martin Luther) boys’ basketball game will be tonight, Feb. 19 at Saint James.

Bingo night will be from 6 to 8 pm on Friday, Feb. 20, at Truman Public School’s board room. Admission is $5 per person. Rollerkating will be from 3 to 5 pm on Sunday, Feb. 22 at TPS. Admission is $5 per person. Free open gym will be from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 22 at TPS. A science activity will be from 3 to 5 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 23 at TPS. Registration is required, and is due today, Feb. 19. St. Patrick’s Day Cookie Decorating will be held from 5:30 to 7 pm on March 9 and from 3 to 4:30 p.m. on March 10 at TPS. Admission is $5. Registration is required and is done by calling (507) 776-2111, ext. 3912. The public is welcome to participate. Children in grades 3 or younger need to be accompanied by an adult for these activities.

Driver’s education information can be found in the TPS office. This will be the last class at GHEC and TPS, as there is not an instructor to offer at the time. This class will begin in March, so get the information soon to register.

Lewisville Ambulance’s third annual Soup and Chili Cook-off will be from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 22 at American Legion Post 561 in Lewisville.

St Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church welcomes you to join them for their mid-week Wednesday Lenten service with 8:30 a.m. chapel and 6:30 p.m. Lenten service. The Trinity Lutheran Church youth will be serving chili with fixings, cookies and a beverage from 5:15 to 6:15 pm on Wednesday for a free-will donation. The Lenten worship service will begin at 6:30 pm with Holden service (First sign is stop).

The Agri-business committee of the Fairmont chamber of commerce is offering $4,200 scholarships, which includes registration for the fall 2026 AFA leaders conference. To be considered for a scholarship, visit www.agfuture.org/scholarships. Click on the “apply now” button to access the application. You will be asked to write a 300-500-word essay on your personal vision for agriculture and how you plan to contribute through your chosen career in the agriculture and food industry. We encourage you to draft this essay in a separate word processing program and then copy/paste it into the application. Please note you must continue through the last page of the application, and you will receive an email confirmation. Applying for an AFA community scholarship online also makes you eligible for an AFA national leadership and academic scholarship; however, you may only receive either a local or a national award. The Martin County application deadline is March 5, 2026.
