WELCOME — There will be an extra cribbage tournament date at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 7 at the Welcome Legion Hall. The tournaments will continue on their usual dates, the second and third Saturdays of the month, on Feb. 14 and 21. All area cribbage players are welcome to join the afternoon of fun.

The Welcome Fire Department Relief Association will sponsor a fundraiser Pancake Breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon on Sunday, Feb. 8 at the Welcome Legion Hall. The menu includes pancakes, sausage, fried potatoes and beverage. The cost is a free will donation to the Welcome Fire Department Relief Association. Please use that name if you are writing a check. Proceeds will be used for needed equipment. Please be generous. Thank you to the firefighters for their service to the community.

The Welcome Legion will meet at 7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 9. All members are urged to attend.

American Red Cross blood drives will be today, Feb. 6 at the Our Savior’s Church in Jackson, Feb. 9 at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Trimont, Feb. 10 and 11 at the Best Western in Fairmont, Feb. 20 at the American Legion in Fairmont, Feb. 23 at the St. Paul’s Community Church in Welcome and Feb. 24 at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont. There is a critical need for blood now so give if you are eligible (age 16-plus, weigh 110-plus and are in good health). Each donation of blood may save three lives.

Ruby’s Pantry grocery distribution will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 16 at the parking lot of the Regional Worship Center in Sherburn, south of Interstate 90. There are no income or residential guidelines. $25 will purchase a trunkful of groceries. A partial list is usually on Facebook prior to the distribution date.

St. Paul’s Community Church has services at 9:30 a.m. on Sundays and the Circle of Faith parishes have services in February at 9 a.m. on Sundays at the St. Peter Lutheran Church in Ceylon and at 10:30 a.m. Waverly Lutheran Church, north of Welcome. Waverly congregation will have their annual meeting following a potluck meal this Sunday, Feb. 8. St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Sherburn has services at 5 p.m. on Saturday. St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn has services at 8 a.m. on Sundays. Watch for Lenten services beginning Feb. 18, Ash Wednesday. Area residents are welcome to join these churches for services.
