Upcoming blood drives set
SHERBURN — CREST’s Lunch and Learn program is at 11 a.m. today at First Lutheran Church in Trimont, with a program about home health care and followed by a luncheon. These programs are free to senior citizens in Martin County. CREST appreciates donations for their programs and the lunch.
Sherburn Legion will have its Hamburger Night from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight. The menu includes a burger, salad and beans for only $10. What a deal.
The Memory Café will have a meeting at 3 p.m. on Jan. 26 at the Temperance Lake Ridge facility as a support group for family members and caregivers of any patient with dementia. They are held on the fourth Monday of each month.
The Mayo Mobile Clinic will be in Sherburn from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Jan. 26 and 28 near the City Hall. Call the appointment number (507) 238-8500 and mention Sherburn Clinic.
St. Luke’s Catholic Church has services at 5 p.m. on Saturday. St. John’s Lutheran Church has 8 a.m. services their voter’s meeting after the service on Sunday. Their partner church in Wilbert will have 10 a.m. services and also their voter’s meeting after their service. The Regional Worship Center has services at 10 a.m. on Sunday. Area residents are welcome to join and attend any of these services.
American Red Cross blood drives will be on Jan. 22 and 23 in St. James, Jan. 28 in Armstrong, Jan. 30 in Truman, Feb. 9 at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Trimont and on Feb. 10 and 11 at Best Western in Fairmont. There is a critical need for blood so give if you are eligible, (at least 16 years old, 110 pounds or more and in good health) Thank you.
The Martin County West Schools will dismiss early and the teachers will have time to finish the semester paper work on Friday. The athletes keep busy. The wrestling team will have a meet vs TCU at 5 p.m. at Fairmont High School. The girls’ basketball team will have a game at Sherburn vs Loyola at 7 p.m. The boys’ basketball team will travel to Nicollet for a 7 p.m. game. The boys’ hockey team will meet New Ulm at the Fairmont Arena at 7 p.m. The girls’ hockey team will play at Fairmont’s Arena vs Mankato West at 7 p.m. on Friday. The boys’ hockey team will play at the Fairmont Arena vs LaCrescent-Hohah at 2 p.m. on Saturday. The girls’ hockey team will battle Austin at the Fairmont Arena at 7 p.m. on Monday. The girls’ basketball team will celebrate Senior Night at Sherburn at the Mountain Lake game at 7 p.m. On Tuesday, Jan. 27. Wrestlers will be at Sherburn and compete against multiple schools at 7 p.m. The girls’ hockey team will travel to Worthington for a 7 p.m. game. The girls’ basketball team will go to Truman at 7 p.m. The boys’ hockey team will compete against Worthington at the Fairmont Arena at 7 p.m. Good luck, Mavericks.
There are more than 60 days until spring. It is a little early to look for signs of spring but I start looking in November since I do not like winter. There were beautiful sundogs in the sky a couple mornings.
