Fairmont Speech claims 7th at RiverPark tournament
FAIRMONT — The Fairmont High School Speech Team competed at the “RiverPark” Speech Tournament on Saturday, Jan. 17, hosted by Mounds Park Academy and Two Rivers High School in Mendota Heights. Fairmont placed 7th place as a team with 21 teams in attendance.
Novice Finals:
Freshmen Sophia Streit and Hannah Gries were the champions in Duo.
Sophomore Julia Sathoff placed 3rd in Extemporaneous Reading.
7th grader Natalie Flaherty placed 4th in Oratory.
Freshman Sophia Streit was the Champion in Storytelling.
Varsity Merit Finals:
Senior Levi Loughmiller placed 5th in Extemporaneous Speaking.
Varsity Next-In Finals:
Junior Calixta Tessendorf placed 6th in Discussion.
Junior Allie Streit placed 6th in Extemporaneous Reading.
Varsity Finals:
Junior Allie Streit placed 7th in Drama.
Senior Belinda Lutterman placed 5th in Extemporaneous Speaking.
Junior Norah Heille placed 6th in Great Speeches.
Junior Leon Yang was the Champion in Humorous,
Senior Belinda Lutterman was the Champion in Impromptu.
Sophomore Michelle Esquivel placed 6th in Storytelling.
The Fairmont Speech team will compete on Saturday, Jan. 24, at Chanhassen High School.
The Fairmont Speech Team is coached by Kathleen Walker, Erik Walker and Miles Duffey.
