Ceylon FD to host Sunday breakfast

CEYLON — Today is the last day to drop off real Christmas trees at the Sherburn Nursery or the City Shop in Fairmont to recycle them. Thank you to those drop off business places for helping recycle.

The Lake Belt Bar and Grill in Ceylon will have their Game Race Day at 2 p.m. today. One round of 12 teams of four people will do a 300 piece puzzle, a crossword and a word search. Lake Belt Bar and Grill will also have a Line Dancing at 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 31. Come to Ceylon to play.

A Cribbage Tournament at the Welcome Legion Hall beginning at 1:15 p.m. today with registration. All area cribbage players are welcome to join the afternoon of fun. The next tournament will be on Saturday, Jan. 17.

The Ceylon Fire Department will have a breakfast from 9 to noon on Sunday, Jan. 11 in the banquet room of the Lake Belt Bar and Grill in Ceylon. The menu includes pancakes, french toast, sausage, ham and scrambled eggs and juice. Support the Ceylon firefighters. The cost is a free-will donation. Proceeds will go to necessary fire department equipment.

St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wilbert will not have a service but will join their partner church St. John’s in Sherburn for their 8 a.m. service and will then have a call meeting for voters on Sunday, Jan. 11. Since Pastor Wilson retired, they need to replace one pastor. All members are encouraged to attend. The Circle of Faith Parishes will have a joint service at Waverly Lutheran Church north of Welcome at 9 a.m. and will then help the Heaven’s Table in Fairmont.

The Ceylon City Council will meet at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 13. There is always a time for public comments/questions at the beginning of each meeting. To be on the regular agenda, please call the city hall before the meeting date at (507) 632-4653.

Affidavits of candidacy for township offices are to be turned in by Tuesday, Jan. 13 to the clerk of the township.

The Sherburn Theatre will show “David” at 7 p.m. on today and 4 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 11. Plan to attend. Tickets are $5 and a concession stand is available.

The Lake Promenaders Square Dance Club will meet at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 11 at 801 West 1st Street in Welcome. All dancers and watchers are welcome to join.

The Ruby’s Pantry grocery distribution will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Jan. 19 at the parking lot of the Regional Worship Center in Sherburn. There are no guidelines about residency or income. The $25 per bundle fee gets a trunkful of groceries

The CREST Lunch and Learn will be on Jan. 21 at the First Lutheran Church in Trimont. Plan to attend.
