Legion meets Monday, Jan. 12
WELCOME — A retirement party for Officer Sergeant Gina Jorgensen will be from 9 to 11 a.m. today, Jan. 9, at the law enforcement center in Fairmont and from 5 to 7 p.m. at Sherburn City Hall. Jorgensen has worked as a police officer for 37 years. Congratulations and best wishes for the future. Thank you for your service.
Steak, Shrimp or Pork Supper will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Sherburn Legion.
The Cribbage Tournaments will be held Saturday, Jan. 10 and 17 beginning at 1:15 p.m. with registration at the Welcome Legion Hall. All cribbage players are welcome to join the fun.
The Circle of Faith Parishes will meet at Waverly Lutheran Church for a joint service at 9 a.m. on Sunday and then they will help the Heaven’s Table Food shelf. Many hands make light work. Their Parish Council is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. on Jan. 13 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome. St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn will have a joint service with their partner congregation from St. Paul’s in Wilbert at 8 a.m. on Sunday, and then there will be a call meeting concerning calling a new pastor for the two congregations at 9 a.m.
The Ceylon Fire Department will have a pancake, french toast, sausage and ham brunch from 9 a.m. to noon on Sunday at the banquet room of the Lake Belt Bar and Grill in Ceylon. The cost is a free will donation.
The Lake Promenaders Square Dance Club will meet at 3 p.m. on Sunday at 801 West 1st Street in Welcome. All dancers and watchers are welcome to join.
The Welcome Legion will meet on at 7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 12 at the Legion Hall. All members are encouraged to attend.
Condolences to the families of Donna Foster from Welcome and Greg Geerdes and David Krumwiede from Trimont, who passed away recently. They will be missed by family and friends.
The Sherburn Theatre will feature “David” at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 4 p.m. on Sunday.
The last day for the Real Christmas Tree Recycling is Saturday at the City Shop in Fairmont or at the Sherburn Nursery. Thank you to those drop-off places for helping.
The deadline to submit affidavits of candidacy for township offices is Jan. 13. Contact the clerk of the township.
The Ruby’s Pantry grocery distribution will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Jan. 19 at the parking lot of the Regional Worship Center in Sherburn. There are no guidelines about residency or income. The $25 per bundle fee gets a trunkful of groceries.
A CREST Lunch and Learn program will be on Jan. 21 at the First Lutheran Church in Trimont. Plan to attend.
