CREST Lunch and Learn on Jan. 7

CEYLON — Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Ceylon will have their 5:30 p.m. Saturday evening service tonight and they will have a Bible Study at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday mornings. Area residents are welcome to join them. January marks the change of services for the Circle of Faith parishes (which includes St. Peter Lutheran Church) During January the services will be at 9 a.m. Sundays at Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome and at 10:30 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Trimont. The parishes will have a 9 a.m. joint service on Jan. 11 at Waverly Lutheran Church, north of Welcome and then proceed to help the Heaven’s Table Food Shelf for the God’s Work our Hands project. In other area churches services the congregation at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wilbert will have services at 10 a.m. and their partner Church in Sherburn, St. John, will have 8 a.m. services. This Sunday the two churches will have installation of the elected officers. The Ladies groups (LWML) will meet in January. At Wilbert the date is Jan. 8 at 1:30 p.m. and at St. John’s the date is Jan. 14 at 2 p.m. On Jan. 11 there will be no service at St. Paul’s in Wilbert and they will have a joint service at St. John’s in Sherburn at 8 a.m. followed by a Call Meeting at 9 a.m. about calling a new pastor.

The CREST Lunch and Learn will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Jan. 7 at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Sherburn. This program is about home health care and will be presented by Ashley and Kory Brown of Midwest Valley Home Care. Please RSVP by January 5 at 507-235-3833. There will be a home cooked lunch following the program. CREST programs are free to senior citizens in Martin County. CREST appreciates a free-will donation.

The Cribbage Tournaments are will begin at 1:15 p.m. with registration on Jan. 10 and 17 at the Welcome Legion Hall. The registration dues are all paid back in prizes. All cribbage fans in the area are welcome to join the fun afternoon.

Christmas Tree Recycling by Prairieland Recycling will be available until Jan. 10. Drop-off points are the City Shop on Margaret Street in Fairmont and at the Sherburn Nursery in Sherburn. Please drop off only real trees. No artificial trees, wreaths or roping. Please watch for tree stands, ornaments and lights and remove them before recycling. Lake Belt Bar and Grill in Ceylon will have a Game Race Day at 2 p.m. on Jan. 10. Gather teams of four and compete for prizes.

Ruby’s Pantry grocery distribution will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Jan. 19 at the Regional Worship Center in Sherburn. There are no income or residential guidelines. $25 will purchase a trunk full of grocery items.

Make sure to stay away from open water on Clear Lake, west of Ceylon, where there are aeration systems working watch for warning signs.

Don’t forget to write 2026 on checks and correspondence and have a great 2026.
