‘David’ to play at Sherburn Theatre
SHERBURN — Christmas Eve is today. Several area churches have special Christmas services. St. John’s Lutheran in Sherburn has a 5 p.m. family service and 9 p.m. candlelight/communion service, St. Paul’s Lutheran in Wilbert has a 7 p.m. candlelight/communion service, Circle of Faith Parishes have a service at 5 p.m. at St.Peter Lutheran in Ceylon, Waverly Lutheran have services at 5:30 p.m Trinity Lutheran in Welcome has services at 6:30 p.m, St. Paul’s Community Church in Welcome has services at 6:30 p.m. and First Lutheran in Trimont has services at 7 p.m. St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Sherburn will have Christmas Day services at 8:30 a.m. For the New Year services, First Lutheran in Trimont will have a Joint service for all Circle of Faith parishes at 9 a.m. on Dec. 28. St. John’s Lutheran in Sherburn will have 8 a.m. service on Dec. 28 and St. Paul’s in Wilbert will have a 10 a.m. service that day. St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Sherburn will have a New Year’s Eve service at 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 31. The congregation at St. Luke’s change services in January to 5 p.m. on Saturdays until March.
The Sherburn Theatre will show “David” at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 4 p.m. on Sunday.
There will be a Christmas Tree Recycling opportunity for the real trees from the area from Dec. 26 to Jan. 10, sponsored by the Prairieland Recycling. Drop-off points are the City Shop on Margaret Street in Fairmont and at the Sherburn Nursery in Sherburn. Please drop off only real trees. No artificial trees, wreaths or roping. The Sherburn Lions Club will sponsor a steak, shrimp or pork chop dinner on New Year’s Eve from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Sherburn Legion Hall. Snacks are available at 4 p.m. Plan to attend and celebrate 2026.
The American Red Cross Blood drive will be on Dec. 30 at the American Legion Hall in Fairmont. Call 800-red-cross (800-733-2767), go online to www.redcrossblood.org or text BLOODAPP to 90999 to make an appointment or for further information.
The Mayo Mobile Clinic will be available from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Dec. 29 and Dec. 31. near the City Hall in Sherburn. Call the appointment number at (507) 238-8500 and mention the Sherburn clinic.
Martin County West (MCW) Schools are on Winter Break until Jan. 5, but the boys and girls basketball teams will participate in the Windom tournaments on Dec. 29 and Dec. 30. Good luck, Mavericks.
Several lakes in the area have aeration systems, and there are open water spots. Please be cautious on the lakes, watch for signs on the northeast part of South Cedar Lake, on the northeast part of North Cedar Lake, on the southern part of Big Twin Lake and in Fairmont.
