Toys for Truman accepting donations

TRUMAN — The Jaguar boys will have a basketball game tonight in Madelia, and the Jaguar girls will have a basketball game tonight in Sleepy Eye.

Truman Public School class bake sale will be available during open museum hours on Friday, Dec. 12 at the museum.

Please join the Toys for Truman in helping children. Make a difference this Christmas by donating a toy for a child in need. Boekett Building Supply and Elizabeth Chevrolet are collecting toys for underprivileged children in the community. You can help by bringing an unwrapped new gift any time during regular business hours. Please drop off your gift or monetary donation by noon on Friday, Dec. 12. Don’t forget older kids need gifts, too.

A cookie walk event will be from 9 to 11 am on Saturday, Dec. 13 at St James Lutheran Church in Northrop. Purchase by the pound or buy pre-boxed. Containers will be available or bring your own. Gluten-free options are available.

Christmas Fun in Lewisville will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 13. Offerings include a soup and sandwich lunch sponsored by the Lewisville Legion Auxiliary, and a bake sale with proceeds benefiting Lewisville 125th anniversary. Be sure to come and meet Santa Claus. Karaoke will be held at the Lewisville Legion in the evening.

It’s time to send Christmas cards to family, friends and those serving our country. Opening one’s mailbox and finding a thoughtful, personal piece of correspondence is more exciting than ever. So please, don’t stop spreading that Christmas cheer.

The Truman Public School’s Winter concert will be at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 15, beginning at 6:30 p.m. with the kindergarten to second grade, 7 pm for grades 3 to 6 and 8 pm is the high school band and choir.

The Truman City Council will meet at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 15. All the meetings are open to the public.

The Truman School Board will meet at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 15 in the board conference room.

Ruby’s Pantry grocery distribution will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 15 in at the Regional Worship Center in Sherburn. The cost is $25 per bundle with pre-pay available at the express track at rubyspantry.org.

The Jaguar boys basketball game is Tuesday, Dec. 16 at Truman.

The last recycling day for 2025 is Wednesday Dec. 17. Have your containers curbside by 7 a.m. with all cardboard broken down.

Second Harvest Heartland, nutrition assistance program for seniors, will be held 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17. Come to Trinity Lutheran Church in Truman to pick up your box. Eligibility is based on age, 60 years and up, household size, and income. Pre-register at 1-800-365-0270.

The Trinity GIFT Christmas Program will begin at 5:30 p.m., Dec. 17. A supper will be held afterwards.

The Truman City Library is accepting donations of canned goods and non-perishable food items from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. on weekdays until Dec. 22. The library is located at 101 E Ciro St.

Just a reminder that Dec. 19 is ugly sweater day, so put on that ugly sweater, sweater vest or jacket and make someone smile–even yourself.
