CEYLON — The Our Savior’s Lutheran Church will have an evening service at 5:30 p.m. tonight with communion. They also invite area residents to a Bible Study each Tuesday at 9:30 a.m.

The Sherburn Theatre will have a free movie, “Zootopia 2” at 7 p.m. and at 4 p.m. on Sunday. This is sponsored by the Civic and Commerce club in Sherburn and the Fox Lake Conservation group. Thank you.

Several holiday events are in the area on Dec. 7. The St. Peter Lutheran Church in Ceylon will have services at 9 a.m. Trinity Lutheran in Welcome will have services at 9 a.m. The Choir Cantata will be part of the 10:30 a.m. service at Waverly Lutheran Church, north of Welcome, and Carol Singing will be at 6:30 p.m. at First Lutheran Church in Trimont. Pancakes with Santa will be from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Martin County West High School in Sherburn. Supper with Santa will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in Dunnell.

St.Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wilbert is reminded that communion services tomorrow are at 10 a.m., while St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn has 8 a.m. services. These two congregations will meet at Sherburn at 8 a.m. services on Dec. 14, and a call meeting will follow that service. Wilbert will not have services that day. The Ladies group LWML from St. Paul’s in Wilbert will have their annual Christmas Social at 1:30 p.m. on Dec. 11. They are planning a salad luncheon, program and bake and craft sale. Ceylon area women are invited to join the celebration of Christ’s birth with them.

Condolences to the family of Lola Schultze (Lawrence), who passed away last week. She was a Wilbert and Ceylon area resident for many years. She will be missed by family and friends.

Thursday Coffee Lovers meet from 8:30 to 10 a.m. each Thursday in the back room of the Lake Belt Bar and Grill. Area residents are welcome to join them.

The Lake Belt Bar and Grill will feature Races and Meat Raffles today from 2 to 4 p.m., line dancing at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 13 and an Ugly Sweater Party at 7 p.m. on Dec. 20 with the announcement of the individual and couples sweater winners at 10 p.m.

There will be Cribbage Tournaments beginning with registration at 1:15 p.m. on Dec. 13 and 20 at the Welcome Legion Hall. Area cribbage players are welcome to join the afternoon of fun.

There will be a Christmas song concert and sing-along featuring Glenn Henriksen at 6 p.m. on Dec. 14 at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Trimont.

In other upcoming events, the Helping Hands of Ceylon non-profit group will sponsor a Santa Day for children from 1 to 3 p.m. on Dec. 20 next to the Museum across from the post office. The Helping Hands group is sponsoring a decorate your house for Christmas contest for Ceylon residents. The judging will be on Dec. 20 by an out-of-town judge. Make sure your lights are on that day. They will give prizes for the top three houses with $50 for first place, $30 for second place and $20 for third place. Thank you to the group for sponsoring the contest and thank you to all the residents who have decorated their houses to light up Christmas for the community.
