Last day to order St. John’s pies
TRUMAN — St. John’s Antrim Church will have its 10th annual beef commercial meal from 11:16 a.m. to 12:35 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 7. There will be seating in the church basement and takeouts as well. Today is the deadline to order your homemade baked pie. They offer apple, pecan, cherry, blueberry and peanut butter silk pies. Orders can be made by calling (507) 236-7292. Suggested donation for the pies is $10. You can pick up the pre-ordered pies on the day of the meal. This is a free-will donation event. The Sunday school will also be having a bake sale downstairs.
The Jaguar boys’ basketball game will be at Granada Friday evening. The Jaguar girls’ basketball game is at LCWM on Friday evening.
A Cookie Walk will be 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Dec. 6 at Trinity Lutheran Church, located at 102 North 7th Avenue East in Truman. You can choose cookies, caramels, kringle, party mix and more, then pay for the items you choose by the pound. Containers will be provided. You can also enjoy goodies along with cider and coffee for a donation. This community event is a favorite for shoppers to stock up on Christmas baking.
The annual Truman Sorority shopping spree for children in grades kindergarten to will take place at the Community Building on Tuesday, Dec. 9. Children in grades kindergarten to 6 are welcome to shop from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Santa plans to be there.
The Jaguar girls’ basketball game will be held on Tuesday evening at Granada.
Please join the Toys for Truman in helping children. Make a difference this Christmas by donating a toy for a child in need. Boekett Building Supply and Elizabeth Chevrolet are collecting toys for underprivileged children in the community. You can help by bringing an unwrapped new gift to Boekett or Elizabeth’s any time during regular business hours. Please drop off your gift or monetary donation by noon on Friday, Dec. 12. Don’t forget, older kids need gifts.
A cookie walk event will be from 9 to 11 am on Saturday, Dec. 13, at St James Lutheran Church in Northrop. Purchase by the pound or buy pre-boxed. Containers available or bring your own. Gluten-free options are available.
Christmas fun will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 13, sponsored by the Lewisville Legion Auxiliary with a soup and sandwich lunch and a bake sale with proceeds benefiting Lewisville’s 125th anniversary and meeting Santa Claus. Karaoke will be held at the Legion in the evening.
