Businesses collection toys to donate
TRUMAN — The Truman Public School will be on Thanksgiving break from Nov. 26 to Nov. 28 and Dec. 1 for professional day.
The last free park day of the year is Friday. On Nov.28, enjoy free entrance to all of Minnesota’s state parks and recreation areas. No vehicle permit is needed.
The GHEC/Truman/ML Jaguar’s girls’ basketball team has a game on Monday at Granada-Huntley-East Chain School in Granada. Another basketball game will be on Tuesday at Truman Public School.
The Truman City Council will meet at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 1. All the meetings are open to the public.
Truman Community Fun Night is Tuesday, Dec. 2. The Jaguar boys basketball will play Mountain Lake starting with B squad at 5:45 p.m. and Varsity at 7 p.m. The Scholastic bookfair will be open along with various fundraisers. Concessions will be available as well.
Recycling day is Wednesday. Recycling containers should be curbside by 7 a.m. with all cardboard broken down.
Truman Pride meeting will be held at 6 pm, Wednesday at Truman Public School. Pride in our school, pride in our students, pride in our future. Get involved and help Truman Schools succeed. Come join. All are welcome.
A Cookie Walk will be 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Dec. 6 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 102 North 7th Avenue East in Truman. You can choose cookies, caramels, kringle, party mix, etc. and then pay for the items you choose by the pound. Containers will be provided. You can also enjoy goodies along with cider and coffee for a donation. This community event is a favorite for shoppers to stock up on Christmas baking.
St. John’s Lutheran church of Antrim will be having their 10th annual beef commercial dinner from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Dec. 7 .There is limited seating and offering to-go-meals. You will receive your beef commercial, corn, coleslaw, and a sugar cookie, all for a free-will donation. If you would like to pre-order a homemade apple, blueberry, cherry or pecan pie, your order is due by Dec. 4. Pies are also a free-will donation, suggested donation is $10 per pie. You can pick up your pie the same day as your meal. Call (507) 236-7292 to place your order for a pie or a meal.
Please join Toys for Truman by donating a toy for a child in need. Boekett Building Supply and Elizabeth Chevrolet are collecting toys for underprivileged children in the community. You can help by bringing an unwrapped, new gift to Boekett or Elizabeth Chevrolet any time during regular business hours. Please drop off your gift or monetary donation by noon on Friday, Dec. 12. Don’t forget older kids need gifts.
It’s time to send out Christmas cards to family, friends and those serving, our country. Opening one’s mailbox and finding a thoughtful, personal piece of correspondence is more exciting than ever. So please, don’t stop spreading that Christmas cheer.
Meals on Wheels in Truman helps older adults maintain good health and remain living at home, by providing hot, nutritious meals Monday through Friday as well as a friendly visit and safety check for Minnesotans aged 60 and older. The Truman Public Library is accepting donations of canned goods and non-perishable food items from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday until Dec. 22. The library is located at 101 East Ciro Street in Truman.
