CEYLON — The members of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wilbert are not having a service at the church on Nov. 23, but are joining their partner Church at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn for a 9 a.m. service. This will be the last service for long time pastor, Steve Wilson, who is retiring. Both congregations will meet and then have fellowship after the service to thank Pastor Wilson and his family for all the years of special ministry in Sherburn and the area.

St. Paul’s Lutheran in Wilbert will have church services at 10 a.m. starting on Nov. 30. That will be the last Sunday for the Heaven’s Table Food Shelf monetary collection. Please be generous. The ladies group at Wilbert (LWML) will have their Christmas Social at 1:30 p.m. on Dec. 11, with a salad luncheon and a craft and bake sale table available after a short program. Ceylon ladies are welcome to join them to celebrate the Reason for the Season, Christ’s Birth.

The Lake Belt Bar and Grill will have a Build a Burger Night from 5 to 8 p.m. tonight for the Ceylon Fire Relief Association, the cost is $12 per plate. The Fat City All Stars band will be at the Lake Belt Bar and Grill at 7 p.m. on Nov. 26. An old fashioned BINGO night will be on Nov. 28. Condolences to the families of Nadine Abel from Armstrong, Iowa and Marlene Simmering from Wilbert, who passed away recently. They will be missed by family and friends.

The Circle of Faith parishes will not have a Thanksgiving service schedule. The Wilbert St. Paul’s Lutheran congregation will have a communion service on at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 26. Their partner Church, St. John’s Lutheran in Sherburn will have a Wednesday night service at 6 p.m. with communion. All area residents are welcome to attend.

The Sherburn Theatre will feature the Martin County West High School fall musical, “Newsies”, this weekend at 7 p.m. tonight and 2 p.m. on Sunday. From Nov. 28 to Nov. 30, the movie will be “Zootopia 2”.

The Helping Hands of Ceylon non-profit group will sponsor a Santa Day in Ceylon from 1 to 3 p.m. on Dec. 20 next to the museum, across the street from post office. They also are planning to have a Decorate Your House For The Christmas Holidays contest for Ceylon residents. The houses will be judged on Dec. 20 so have your lights on. The first prize will be rewarded with $50, the second $30 and the third $20. Thank you to the group for sponsoring the contest and Santa Day.
