Turkey Dinner on Sunday at St. Paul’s
WELCOME — Today is Halloween. There are several events in the area for the area children. Have a safe and fun Halloween.
This Sunday is the date to return to Standard Time instead of Daylight Savings Time. Turn your clock back one hour on Saturday so that by Sunday at 2 a.m. they are ready for the time change. We get one more hour of sleep.
The St. Paul’s Community Church in Welcome will have their Annual Turkey Dinner from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 2 for a free will donation. The menu includes the traditional turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn, cranberries and a variety of desserts. Plan to attend.
Condolences to the family of Sue Nelson, Nadine Abel and Ruthe Young who passed away recently. They will be missed by family and friends.
The Welcome City Council will meet at 6 p.m. on Nov. 4 at the City Hall. All members are encouraged to attend. There is always a time for public comments and questions at the beginning of each meeting. To be on the regular agenda, contact the City Hall prior to the day of the meeting at (507) 728-8740. Nov. 4 is the date for referendum voting for area schools.
The CREST Lunch-N-Learn program will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 5, in Sherburn at 212 No. Prairie which is the Congregational Church/Sinn CLC location in Sherburn. The program about Alaska will begin at 11 a.m. and be followed by a luncheon. These events are free to senior citizens from Martin County. Crest does appreciate a free will donation for the lunch.
The Sherburn Legion Hall is the place for a Hamburger Night supper from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 5. Get a hamburger, salad and baked beans for only $10. Sounds good.
The Cribbage Tournaments will begin with registration at 1:15 p.m. on November 8 and 15 at the Welcome Legion Hall. Plan to attend for a fun afternoon.
Two Turkey Bingo events coming up in November in the area. The Sherburn Fire Department Relief Association will have a Turkey Bingo at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 5, and the Dunnell Fire Department Relief Association will have a Turkey Bingo on Nov. 14. Each have about 40 turkeys to win. Plan to attend.
The Welcome Burn Site will be open one more time from 8 a.m. to noon on Nov. 8. Only wood should be brought to the site.
The American Red Cross blood drive will be from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Nov. 7 at the Fairmont High School and on Nov. 25 and Nov. 26 at the Best Western in Fairmont. Give blood if you are eligible each donation can save up to three lives.
Ruby’s Pantry grocery distribution will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 17 at the parking lot of the Regional Worship Center in Sherburn. There are no income or residential requirements.
