Daylight Saving this weekend
SHERBURN — There are two Halloween events coming this week. Temperance Lake Ridge will welcome trick or treaters from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 31. They will have treats and a photo booth available. The children can show off their costumes to the residents. The Dunnell and Lake Fremont Fire Departments will have a Halloween event with candy and hotdogs from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 31 in downtown Dunnell.
Saturday is Nov. 1, and the Daylight Saving time will be at 2 a.m. on Sunday so set your clocks back one hour on Saturday and enjoy one more hour of sleep on Sunday morning.
The St. Paul’s Community Church in Welcome will have their Annual Turkey Dinner from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 2 at the church on Dugan Street in Welcome. The cost is a free-will donation. The menu is the traditional Thanksgiving meal.
Condolences to the family of Terry Adams, formerly from Dunnell, who passed away recently. He will be missed by family and friends.
The Sherburn Theatre will feature the movie “Regretting You” at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 31 and Saturday, Nov. 1 and at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 2. Tickets are $5, and there is a concession stand available.
The Friendship Club from St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn will have a potluck Thanksgiving-esque meal at 11 a.m. on Nov. 3 at the church. Bring a dish to pass and meet old and new friends. Membership at St. John’s is not required.
The Mayo Mobile Clinic will be available from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Nov. 3 and Nov. 5 near the City Hall in Sherburn. Call the appointment number at (507) 238-8500 and mention Sherburn Clinic.
The Sherburn City Council is scheduled to meet at 5 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 3 at City Hall. There is always time for public comments and questions at the beginning of each meeting. To be on the regular agenda, contact City Hall prior to the meeting date at (507) 764-4491. Remember the City Hall is closed at noon on Fridays.
The Caregiver’s Support Group is scheduled to meet at 10 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 3 at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Trimont. All caregivers are welcome to attend.
The Civic and Commerce group are scheduled to meet at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 4. Anyone interested in the businesses in the Sherburn area are welcome to attend.
A Lunch and Learn Program will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 5 at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Sherburn.
The Sherburn Legion will have their Hamburger Night from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 5. Plan to attend these events.
The Youth Group at St. John’s is selling holiday greenery (wreaths, swags, garlands, bundles, porch pots and centerpieces). The delivery date is Nov. 24, just in time for Thanksgiving. Contact any youth member or the church.
