Trunk or Treat on Oct. 25

CEYLON — The Lake Belt Bar and Grill will have Line Dancing lessons tonight. Horse races will be on Nov. 1. The new owners are keeping the scheduled events.

A Cribbage Tournament will begin with registration 1:15 p.m. and playtime at 1:30 p.m. today at the Welcome Legion Hall. The $11 registration dues are returned 100-percent in prizes. These cribbage events are planned for the second and third Saturdays from October to March. Any cribbage player is welcome to join the fun.

Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Ceylon will have services at 5:30 p.m. tonight with communion. They also have Bible Study at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesdays. The area residents are welcome to join them.

The congregation at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wilbert will have their voters’ meeting after the 9:30 a.m. service on Sunday.

The American Red Cross blood drives will be on Monday, Oct. 20 at Martin Luther High School, Friday, Oct. 24 at the American Legion Hall in Fairmont and Tuesday, Oct. 28 at the Truman Community Center. Coffee Hours will be from 8:30 to 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 21 and Tuesday, Oct. 28 at the Sinn Celebration of Life Center/Congregational Church in Sherburn. The Coffee Lovers Group meets from 8:30 to 10 a.m. each Thursday in the back room of the Lake Belt Bar and Grill in Ceylon. Area residents are welcome to join them.

The Helping Hands of Ceylon non-profit is planning a Trunk or Treat Halloween event for the area children from 1 to 3 p.m. on Oct. 25 on Main Street. If anyone would like to decorate their car’s trunk and pass out goodies, contact Barb Kronback at (507) 632-4386 or Chris Griffin at (507) 236-9907 as soon as possible. They will give three gift cards for the top three decorated trunks. They will serve hot dogs, cookies and beverages. They hope to line the whole Main Street, if possible. What a good idea for a safe Halloween event for area children. Join the fun.

The Sherburn Lions will have a Pancake Breakfast from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Oct. 26 at the High School Cafeteria. They will serve pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage and a beverage. The cost will be a free-will donation (they suggest $8 or more) and the proceeds will support the Healing Hearts recovery home in Sherburn. The recovery home helps women live a great life free of drug or alcohol use with on-site peer recovery and gym, coaches for recovery and a safe place to stay.
