CEYLON– Today, Saturday, there will be a Cribbage Tournament at the Welcome Legion Hall beginning at 1:15 p.m. with registration and play will begin at 1:30 p.m. There will be another tournament on Oct. 18 at Welcome. The cribbage tournaments will be held on the second and third Saturdays of the month from October to March.

The Sherburn Theatre will have a football film called The Senior this weekend. It will show at 7 p.m. tonight and 4 p.m. on Sunday.

The Circle of Faith parishes may meet at St. Peter Lutheran Church at 9 a.m. or Waverly Lutheran Church at 10:30 a.m. on October Sundays. St. Peter members are collecting money for the Heaven’s Table Food Shelf during the month of October.

St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wilbert will observe Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) on this Sunday, Oct. 12 at their 9:30 a.m. service.

Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Ceylon will have Bible Study at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesdays. They have services at 5:30 p.m. on the first and third Saturday evening. The next service will be Oct. 18. Area residents are welcome to join them for these events.

From 8:30 to 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 14, there will be a Coffee Hour at the Congregational Church/ Sinn CLC in Sherburn. Join friends and neighbors for a cup of coffee and treat and good fellowship. October is the last month the Tuesday Coffee Hours will be held. The Ceylon Coffee Lovers from 8:30 to 10 a.m. meet each Thursday in the back room of the Lake Belt Bar and Grill in Ceylon. Area men and women are welcome to join them there.

At 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 15, the Crest Lunch-N-Learn program will be at the First Lutheran Church in Trimont. It will be followed by a lunch. These fun and educational programs are free for Senior Citizens of Martin County. Crest would appreciate a free will donation for the lunch.

The Lake Belt Bar and Grill will feature Line Dancing lessons at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 18 Plan to attend.

The Red Cross blood drives continue in October. Call to make an appointment or find a blood drive in the area. Blood drives are scheduled for Welcome at the St. Paul’s Community church/Sinn CLC on Dugan street from 1 to 6 p.m. on Oct. 13. Also Oct. 20 at Martin Luther High School in Northrop and on Oct. 24 at the Fairmont Legion Hall and Oct. 28 at the Truman Community Building. Each donation of blood could save the lives of up to three people.

The Sherburn Lions will have a breakfast of pancakes, eggs and sausage to raise funds for the Healing Hearts Recovery House in Sherburn from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Oct. 26 at the Martin County West High School cafeteria. Circle these dates on your calendar and plan to attend.
